That is no surprise. Especially when the art features a woman controlling her image.<\/p>\n<p>Some ostensibly left-leaning critics have decried this as evidence of society\u2019s moral backslide \u2014 because Sabrina Carpenter is showing her legs, and because she is posing in a submissive manner. <\/p>\n<p>(And some of these critics have accused the art of romanticizing abuse, but we have to note that kneeling and hair-pulling can both be perfectly consensual activities. Even her <em>Fortnite <\/em>character is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2025\/04\/sabrina-carpenter-fortnite-nsfw\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">decidedly NSFW<\/a> in the right hands.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most infamous tweets about her included the oft-mocked line: \u201cI\u2019m 17 and AFRAID of Sabrina Carpenter when she\u2019s performing.\u201d The issue was Sabrina\u2019s \u201cprovocative\u201d dances.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, older generations clutching their metaphorical pearls and people born in the 2000s who are afraid of getting roasted by their friends for admitting to liking horny content on social media have some things in common. Not <em>good <\/em>things, necessarily, but things.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Sabrina Carpenter - Manchild (Official Video)\" width=\"696\" height=\"522\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/aSugSGCC12I?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>As for the album itself, we do not yet know much about <em>Man\u2019s Best Friend<\/em> except that the music will be delightful. Because, you know, they\u2019ll be Sabrina Carpenter songs.<\/p>\n<p>One song is already out. Sabrina released \u201cManchild\u201d earlier this month, with a jaw-dropping music video. As many have commented, it looks like a trailer for a film that does not exist.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re sure that there will be other controversies.<\/p>\n<p>Women like Sabrina, who control their image and own their sexuality, are easy targets for reactionaries and prudes and people who lack media literacy. It\u2019s sad!<\/p>\n<p>Sabrina announced this album a little over a week before the start of summer. <em>Man\u2019s Best Friend<\/em> will be out this summer, in August.
