Country singer Conner Smith<\/strong> was involved in a fatal car accident over the weekend in the Nashville area.<\/p>\n

According to Nashville Police, a 77-year-old woman named Dorothy Dobbins<\/strong> was hit and killed by a truck driven by Smith, 24, on Sunday, June 8.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe preliminary investigation indicates that a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, driven by Conner Smith, 24, was traveling north on 3rd Avenue North as Dobbins was crossing the roadway,\u201d Nashville Police said in a press release posted online<\/span><\/a> on Monday, June 9. \u201cIt appears that she was inside a marked crosswalk when she was struck around 7:30 p.m. Dobbins, who lived nearby, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she died.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to authorities, the preliminary contributing factor for the fatal incident appears to be Smith allegedly failing to yield the right of way to the pedestrian.<\/p>\n

The Judds singer\u2019s daughters, Wynonna and Ashley Judd, revealed that their mother died in April 2022 at the age of 76, after a long battle with depression. \u201cToday we [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cHe showed no signs of impairment,\u201d the release stated. \u201cThere are no charges at present as the investigation continues.\u201d<\/p>\n

Smith\u2019s attorney released a statement to Us Weekly<\/i> on Monday, confirming the \u201cCreek Will Rise\u201d singer was involved in a car accident that tragically claimed a life.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis heart goes out to Ms. Dobbins\u2019 family during this incredibly difficult time,\u201d the statement said. \u201cMr. Smith continues to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to sources on the scene, law enforcement released Smith right away since there was no sign of impairment.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was a tragic accident,\u201d a source told Us<\/i>. \u201cMr. Smith was neither under the influence nor distracted by his phone at the time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Us <\/i>has reached out to Smith\u2019s rep for comment.<\/p>\n

The accident comes at the end of CMA Fest, which kicked off in Nashville on Thursday, June 5, and lasted through the weekend.<\/p>\n

During the annual event, which brings country music\u2019s biggest stars together for special concerts, collaborations and event activations, Smith had the opportunity to perform with close friend Dylan Marlowe<\/strong> on Sunday.<\/p>\n

One day earlier, he stopped by Lainey Wilson<\/strong>\u2019s Bell Bottoms Up in Nashville to perform at Big Machine Label Group\u2019s CMA Fest event.<\/p>\n
