Sarah Jessica Parker<\/b><\/a> admitted she was surprised to learn that fans didn\u2019t like <\/span>And Just Like That\u2026<\/span><\/i> <\/a>character Che Diaz, played by <\/span>Sara Ramirez<\/b>.<\/p>\n While speaking to The Guardian<\/em><\/a> on June 6, Sarah, 60, said she had no idea that so many fans didn\u2019t like the controversial nonbinary character until a friend brought it up to her.<\/p>\n \u201cA friend of mine brought it up to me, and it\u2019s like: \u2018What are you talking about?\u2019\u201d she recalled. \u201cAnd he said: \u2018Yeah, there\u2019s all this conversation.\u2019 I\u2019ve been an actor for 50 years, and I\u2019ve almost never paid attention to peripheral chatter.\u201d<\/p>\n Sarah added that she \u201cloved working with\u201d Sara, 49, who is also nonbinary and uses they\/them pronouns.<\/p>\n It was revealed in February 2024 that Sara would not return as standup comic Che<\/a> after appearing on And Just Like That\u2026<\/em> for the first two seasons. Shortly after the show\u2019s debut in 2021, Che quickly became a meme and the butt of the joke among many viewers.<\/p>\n The Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/em> alum reflected on the backlash while speaking to Variety<\/em><\/a> in June 2022. \u201cOther people\u2019s opinions of a character \u2014 that\u2019s not something I can allow into my process,\u201d they said. \u201cI choose what I receive, right? That\u2019s the beauty of being grown \u2014 I don\u2019t have to receive everything!\u201d<\/p>\n Che was romantically involved with original Sex and the City<\/span><\/i> character Miranda Hobbs (<\/span>Cynthia Nixon<\/b>)<\/span><\/a>, while they also worked on a podcast with <\/span>Carrie Bradshaw<\/b> (Sarah Jessica Parker).<\/p>\n In addition to discussing the backlash surrounding Che<\/a>, Sarah also reflected on Sex and the City<\/em>\u2019s popularity among Gen Z.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s curious, because their lives are so different \u2013 the language they use around dating is different,\u201d she told The Guardian<\/em> about the younger generation. \u201cThey\u2019re less patient. They\u2019re more punitive. They\u2019re not as forgiving of people\u2019s shortcomings. I\u2019m not condemning it, it\u2019s just what I\u2019ve heard.
