When it comes to making fashion headlines, the Kardashian-Jenner sisters<\/a> know how to make news. Whether it\u2019s with their red carpet gowns or streetwear, the ladies have picked out some controversial looks over the years.<\/p>\n Kim Kardashian<\/strong><\/a> has many highly discussed outfits, but she made some people irate when she wore Marilyn Monroe\u2019s iconic \u201cHappy Birthday, Mr. President\u201d museum-piece dress to the 2022 Met Gala<\/a>. No one had worn it since the late blonde bombshell, but Kim\u2019s mom Kris Jenner<\/strong><\/a> convinced the people at the Ripley\u2019s Believe It or Not! museum in Florida to let her daughter wear it after she had her heart set on it.<\/p>\n \u201cThey were not gonna let me wear this dress. They weren\u2019t even gonna let me try it on \u2014 until Kris Jenner calls,\u201d Kim said in a confessional during a November 2022 episode of The Kardashians<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cI was like, \u2018Please, Mom, if you make this happen, I\u2019ll marry you,\u2019\u201d Kim continued. \u201cI would have done anything.\u201d<\/p>\n Being the ultimate negotiator, Kris pulled off the impossible and convinced the museum to loan the SKIMS founder the dress, although she didn\u2019t say how she got her way.<\/p>\n \u201cI cannot tell you my secrets,\u201d Kris said, adding, \u201cBut if somebody says no, you know what I say: You\u2019re talking to the wrong person.\u201d<\/p>\n Kim initially didn\u2019t fit into the gown, which was a condition of allowing her to wear it to the Met Gala<\/a>. She famously lost 16 pounds in three weeks<\/a> in order to slip into the iconic dress.<\/p>\n Some fans fumed over Kim being granted use of such a one-of-a-kind gown. Even fashion designer Bob Mackie<\/strong>, who worked as an assistant to the dress\u2019 late designer, Jean Louis, was upset. \u201cI thought it was a big mistake,\u201d Bob told Entertainment Weekly<\/em><\/a>. \u201c[Marilyn] was a goddess. A crazy goddess, but a goddess. She was just fabulous. Nobody photographs like that. And it was done for her. It was designed for her. Nobody else should be seen in that dress.\u201d<\/p>\n Kim isn\u2019t the only one to anger fans with her fashion choices. Kylie Jenner<\/strong><\/a> took heat from some animal lovers when she wore a black Schiaparelli dress with a lifelike lion\u2019s head sculpture on it during Paris Fashion Week<\/a> in January 2023. While she got slammed by some fans online, the president for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals came to her defense. Ingrid Newkirk<\/strong> said her look, as well as the same design worn by Irina Shayk<\/strong><\/a> on the runway, \u201ccelebrate the beauty of wild animals and may be a statement against trophy hunting.\u201d<\/p>\n
