Jonathan Jackson<\/strong> returned to General Hospital<\/em><\/a> \u2014 only to leave again just nine months later.<\/p>\n

During the Wednesday, June 4, episode, Lucky (Jackson) proposed to Liz (Rebecca Herbst<\/strong>), but she turned him down because she didn\u2019t think his life was in Port Charles. Lucky admitted the fictional New York city was \u201cnot his home anymore\u201d before planning to leave town.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know it\u2019s sudden,\u201d he noted. \u201cBut being here, knowing that we can\u2019t be together, it just hurts too much.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite Jackson, 43, exiting the show<\/a> \u2014 again \u2014 this isn\u2019t the end for Lucky Spencer. Executive producer Frank Valentini released a statement to TV Insider,<\/em><\/a> which read, \u201cWe were so glad Jonathan was able to reprise the role of Lucky, even if it was for a limited time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSoap operas often change up their casts, but there seems to be something in the water in Port Charles on General Hospital. Fresh off winning a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Young Performer in a Daytime Drama Series, Eden McCoy was mysteriously replaced by Courtney Fulk as Josslyn Jacks in December 2023. Neither ABC nor [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The statement continued: \u201cWe wish him nothing but the best, and the door is always open for Jonathan to return.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jackson made his General Hospital<\/em> debut<\/a> in 1993 when he was 10 years old. He appeared on the soap on and off until 1999, when he chose to step back for a decade. While Jackson returned in 2009, he left again two years later to star in Nashville<\/em>, which ran for six seasons.<\/p>\n

The actor was able to reappear on General Hospital<\/em><\/a> for four special episodes in 2015 before reprising the role again in August 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m super excited, and I can\u2019t wait to dig in and see what\u2019s going on in Port Charles,\u201d he said via Instagram. \u201cI\u2019m excited to see Genie Francis, obviously, and so many others. I just wanted to say thank you to all of the fans over the years. Your persistence and love has certainly played a part in all of this, so I just wanted to say thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jackson hinted at how long he planned to remain in Port Charles, telling TV Insider<\/em> that same month, \u201cWhen I came back in 2015, that was just for a few episodes for Tony [Geary\u2019s] exit, and this is not that. This is back in a substantial, real way, which I\u2019m excited about.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jackson also expressed his excitement at his return.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cWorking with Genie was a big personal incentive to come back because when I was there in 2010, 2011, Genie wasn\u2019t on the show, and I always kind of felt like I missed out on working with her as an adult,\u201d he continued. \u201cSo I\u2019m very excited about that, obviously.\u201d<\/p>\n
