John Mulaney<\/a>, 42, and says handling him puts her into \u201csurvival\u201d mode at times when he unleashes tantrums.<\/p>\n\nOlivia was diagnosed in April 2023 with luminal B breast cancer \u2013 a fast-growing, hormone-driven form of the disease \u2013 just months after recovering from postpartum anxiety following Malcolm\u2019s birth. <\/p>\n
\nShe said about the experience: \u201cIt was a whole other perspective, because I had been struggling with life in postpartum, and now I was so desperate to stay alive. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cFrom the moment I received my diagnosis, it just became a march forward.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe underwent a series of major medical interventions, including a double mastectomy, hysterectomy and ovary removal \u2013 and began IVF treatment on a specialised protocol for cancer patients. <\/p>\n
\nShe and John were able to retrieve and fertilise seven eggs. <\/p>\n
\nOlivia added: \u201cI said, \u2018I really don\u2019t think I\u2019ll be okay unless we get two girl embryos. I know this puts me at risk, but I just need you to support me\u2019. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cHe said, \u2018Whatever you need\u2019.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nThat same day, they learned they had two healthy female embryos.<\/p>\n
\nIn September 2024, the couple had their daughter M\u00e9i via surrogate.<\/p>\n
\nOlivia said: \u201cWe were so lucky to find someone so kind who we bonded with so much.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe and John couple married in July that year and said she felt as if she recently needed to get back to acting to \u201cenergise\u201d herself.<\/p>\n
\nOlivia is now filming season two of \u2018Your Friends and Neighbours\u2019 in New York, commuting regularly back to California, where John is raising the children and taping his Netflix variety show \u2018Everybody\u2019s Live\u2019. <\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201cIt\u2019s a dance right now with our schedules. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cWe make it work simply because we have the mindset that it\u2019s a blessing.\u201d<\/p>\n
