Al Roker<\/strong><\/a> is getting candid about his health scare in late 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Today<\/em><\/a> show anchor and meteorologist, 70, was hospitalized<\/a> with blood clots in his legs and lungs in November that year, forcing him to miss NBC\u2019s coverage of the Macy\u2019s Thanksgiving Day Parade for the first time in 27 years<\/a>.<\/p>\n After briefly returning home, Roker was rushed to the hospital again<\/a> in December 2022 with internal bleeding due to ulcers. During emergency surgery, doctors resected his colon and removed his gall bladder.<\/p>\n \u201cMy doctor said if I had not been in the shape I had been, I would most likely not be here today,\u201d Roker admitted in an interview with People<\/em><\/a> published on Tuesday, June 3.<\/p>\n The TV star\u2019s wife, Deborah Roberts<\/strong>, also shared with the outlet how touch-and-go her husband\u2019s situation was.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was frightening beyond belief,\u201d Roberts, an ABC News correspondent, said. \u201cIt\u2019s the toughest thing we\u2019ve ever endured as a family and a couple.\u201d<\/p>\n After being treated, Roker returned to Today<\/em> in January 2023. \u201cI lost half my blood. [My doctors] were trying to figure out where it was,\u201d he said<\/a> during his first broadcast back. \u201cI really do feel good. I\u2019m sure I\u2019m going to collapse like a stone after this is over because this is the first work I\u2019ve done. It\u2019s been a journey.\u201d<\/p>\n Roker also opened up about how he watches his weight.
