Danielle Fishel<\/strong><\/a> iconically chopped off her hair in a Boy Meets World<\/em><\/a> episode \u2014 and some audience members got to take some of her locks home as a souvenir.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ll be surprised to know we gave out pieces of my hair,\u201d Fishel, 44, said on a recent episode of \u201cPod Meets World\u201d<\/a> that featured \u201cOffice Ladies\u201d hosts Jenna Fischer<\/strong> and Angela Kinsey<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Fishel recalled how it was normal for the Boy Meets World<\/em> cast<\/a> and crew to hand out items like \u201csigned scripts\u201d and \u201cprops\u201d to its live studio audience. While taping the episode \u201cHair Today, Goon Tomorrow,\u201d some lucky fans took home some of Fishel\u2019s hair, which she actually cut herself.<\/p>\n

\u201cI really did cut my hair. It was not a wig,\u201d she said. \u201cIt was definitely my hair.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rodriguez\/Getty Images Danielle Fishel may have many fond memories of her time on Boy Meets World, but returning for the show\u2019s spinoff,\u00a0Girl Meets World, was an entirely different \u2014 and \u201cdifficult\u201d \u2014 experience. After portraying the role of Topanga for seven seasons on the ABC \u201890s hit, Fishel, 43, returned for the Disney [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In the episode, which aired in 1996, Fishel\u2019s character Topanga impulsively chops off her hair<\/a> to prove to Cory (Ben Savage<\/strong>) that looks aren\u2019t important. However, Topanga\u2019s grand gesture backfires after she ends up struggling with insecurities herself.<\/p>\n

While Topanga\u2019s decision to cut off her hair seemed impulsive, the plan to give Fishel a new look was always in the works. Fishel previously sought out permission from the show to cut her hair, which had grown very long.<\/p>\n

\u201cI really wanted to cut my hair. I had only had one haircut in my entire life, and it was when I was 2,\u201d she recalled. \u201cI had hair down to my butt from the time I was 2, and my hair at the end had little ring lit curls. My mom at one point decided I needed a trim, and they just cut off those curls and then I never had another haircut until that time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fishel added that she was \u201cready to get rid of it.\u201d However, there was pushback at first.<\/p>\n

\u201cI asked and Kaitlin Simpson Michael<\/strong> [Jacobs<\/strong>] said, at first, \u2018No, absolutely not, no,\u2019 and I persisted,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd then he said, \u2018OK, at least let me write an episode about it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Fishel added she was \u201ca little bummed\u201d at first because there was a long wait time between her initial request and when she was finally able to cut her locks.<\/p>\n
