In poor taste. P.K. Subban<\/strong><\/a> is facing backlash after making a tasteless joke about Lizzo<\/strong><\/a> during a broadcast for the NHL playoffs.<\/p>\n While discussing the Florida Panthers and the Toronto Maple Leafs game on Tuesday, May 2, with fellow analysts, co-anchor John Buccigross<\/strong> implied that the Maple Leafs needed to \u201cpack a lunch\u201d to gain momentum after losing to the Panthers, to which Subban, 33, retorted, \u201cMaybe they need to pack a Lizzo-sized lunch.\u201d<\/p>\n The former hockey player<\/a>\u2019s comment earned him criticism from viewers after clips of the moment circulated on social media where users slammed Subban for his \u201cfatphobic\u201d and \u201cgross\u201d words and calls for his removal began to circulate.<\/p>\n Subban, for his part, hasn\u2019t specifically addressed the backlash, but he did elaborate on what the term \u201cpack a lunch\u201d means following the initial broadcast.<\/p>\n \u201cPack a lunch \u2026 lock in!\u201d he wrote via Twitter<\/a> on Tuesday alongside a screenshot of the definition of the slang with the terms \u201clarge, sustained amount of effort\u201d highlighted. \u201cBe ready to compete! Bring work boots! Expect that they are going to try to outwork you in hard areas.\u201d<\/p>\n While Lizzo, 35, has not called out Subban, this isn\u2019t the first time she\u2019s been the subject of body-shaming<\/a>. In August 2022, comedian Arie Spears<\/strong> made comments about the \u201cGood As Hell\u201d performer\u2019s figure<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI can\u2019t get past the fact that she looks like the s\u2013t emoji,\u201d Spears, 48, said during an appearance on \u201cThe Art of Dialogue<\/a>.\u201d \u201cShe\u2019s got a very pretty face, but she keeps showing her body off<\/a>, like, come on, man. Come on, yo.\u201d<\/p>\n At the time, Lizzo did not directly address Spears\u2019 controversial statement. However, when she took home the impactful Video for Good award at the 2022 VMAs<\/a>, she seemingly shaded<\/a> the Mad TV<\/em> alum \u2014 and all of her other critics<\/a> \u2014 in her speech.<\/p>\n \u201cI want to say thank you so much for supporting me and loving me. And now, to the bitches that got something to say about me in the press,\u201d the \u201cSpecial\u201d songstress said to the audience. \u201cYou know what, I\u2019m not going to say nothing. They\u2019ll be like, \u2018Lizzo, why don\u2019t you clap back?\u2019 Because bitch, I\u2019m winning, hoe! Big bitch is winning, hoe!\u201d<\/p>\n Throughout the Grammy winner\u2019s career, she\u2019s used her platform to preach body positivity<\/a> and inclusivity for humans<\/a> of all shapes and sizes. In addition to her musical success, Lizzo also created the brand Yitty<\/a>, which sells shapewear for all body types.
