\t\t<\/p>\n Eiza Gonzalez<\/strong><\/a> is vulnerably sharing how facing public scrutiny about her physical appearance as a teenager has impacted her self esteem. <\/p>\n Back in 2007, Eiza<\/strong> starred as Dolores in the Mexican telenovela Lola: \u00c9rase Una Vez<\/em>, taking solace in acting after the sudden death of her father. <\/p>\n However, after the first episode of the show aired, she was faced with an onslaught of negative media attention dissecting her face and body. <\/p>\n \u201c[Viewers] were waiting for the reveal of this character, and I came on stage, and I sang a song, whatever. The next morning, I\u2019m watching the version of Today<\/em> in Mexico, and they\u2019re gonna talk about it. I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh my God, it\u2019s just happening, this is crazy.\u2019 I\u2019m doing what I wanna do. And the presenters came on, and they\u2019re 40 and 50-year-olds, and they\u2019re like, \u2018Ugh, she\u2019s so ugly. She\u2019s so fat. They could have gotten anyone, like why would they get her?\u2019 Oh my God, it was just so jarring. And I was just like sitting there, like embarrassed with myself. And you\u2019re also completely lost because you\u2019re mourning and you\u2019re grieving, so you\u2019re sad. And I\u2019m touring and having to smile and be a role model and pretend like I\u2019m okay when everyone\u2019s bombarding [me]. I definitely got lost. I was very unkind to myself, my body, my thoughts, my soul, because I just never felt good enough. And it\u2019s something that stays with you forever because it\u2019s sort of brands you, it marks you for life.
