Miranda Hobbes experienced both love and heartbreak in the Sex and the City<\/em><\/a> spinoff, And Just Like That\u2026,<\/em> and her relationship with Che Diaz certainly had its highs and lows. Is Sara Ramirez<\/strong>\u2019s character in season 3 of the show?\n<\/p>\n It was reported by multiple outlets in February 2024 that Sara\u2019s character was not returning<\/a> for season 3 of And Just Like That\u2026<\/em> after two seasons on the show.<\/p>\n Cynthia Nixon<\/strong>, who plays Miranda, spoke out on Che\u2019s exit from the show one year ahead of the season 3 premiere in May 2025.<\/p>\n \u201cI think for Miranda, Miranda and Che were really pretty done,\u201d Cynthia told Entertainment Weekly<\/em><\/a> in May 2024. \u201cI think that Miranda and Che had kind of run the gamut of what they were going to be to each other.\u201d<\/p>\n Cynthia echoed a similar stance while speaking with Variety<\/em><\/a> that same month.<\/p>\n \u201cI do feel like our show always works best when people are dating,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cThey created such an amazing character \u2014 such a controversial character, but such an amazing character,\u201d she said, referring to the character of Che. \u201cI think they felt, and Michael Patrick<\/strong> [King<\/strong>] felt, that that character had run its course. They came in and shook everything up, and then the arc was completed.\u201d<\/p>\n The Emmy winner said that she understood that a lot of people were upset with the arc of Steve\u2019s character, Miranda\u2019s husband, whom she left and got back together with in the first Sex and the City<\/em> film. In And Just Like That\u2026<\/em> their relationship came crumbling apart when Miranda met Che and began an affair.<\/p>\n While speaking with Grazia<\/em><\/a> in May 2025, Cynthia said that the \u201c\u2018poor Steve\u2019 narrative doesn\u2019t really bother me. Our show always killed its darlings. If we\u2019re just gonna play it safe and nice, why are you watching?\u201d<\/p>\n Sara Ramirez and Cynthia Nixon<\/p>\n <\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n Cynthia revealed that she suggested Sara, who uses they\/them pronouns, for the role of Che.<\/p>\n \u201cI love Che, I love Sara. A feminist show doesn\u2019t show women being perfect.\u201d<\/p>\n Miranda and Che ended up breaking up after their toxic romance hit its breaking point in season 2 of And Just Like That\u2026<\/em> Their romance was plagued by bickering and tension as Che\u2019s TV pilot ended up failing.<\/p>\n \u201cI think for Che, there\u2019s an incremental ego death process that is occurring over time, with the failure of the pilot, with all of the projections that they internalized during that process, with all the questioning they\u2019ve been doing,\u201d Sara told TVLine<\/em><\/a> in July 2023. \u201cI don\u2019t think they have the capacity to keep the wheels on the car any longer.
