Natalie was an unknown non-celeb prior to the announcement, so everything we knew about her came from Nick.<\/p>\n

Once word got out that Nick is 42 and Natalie is 24, fans reacted with various levels of revulsion.<\/p>\n
These days, the couple is in damage control mode, as they attempt to convince everyone that there\u2019s nothing weird about the fact that Natalie was in high school while Nick was auditioning potential wives on The Bachelor<\/em>.<\/p>\nThe latest stop on Nick and Natalie\u2019s media tour is the \u201cSqueeze\u201d podcast hosted by Taylor Lautner and his wife Tay Lautner.<\/p>\nNick Viall\u2019s fianc\u00e9e is 18 years his junior. \u201cHe was like, \u2018I want to see your ID,’\u201d Joy recalled.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe age for me was something I was self conscious about,\u201d Viall chimed in.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was like, I am going to spend the rest of my life with this man, and I knew it and he didn\u2019t, so I was like, I\u2019m gonna hang on because he\u2019ll come around.\u201d<\/p>\n
The couple\u2019s comments echo remarks they made during a recent appearance on the popular \u201cCall Her Daddy\u201d podcast.<\/p>\nNick and Natalie seem concerned about their age difference. (Photo via Instagram)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\u201cAt first, it was something I think I was having a lot of anxiety about,\u201d Nick said of the age difference. \u201cYou know, like, \u2018Are we going to be compatible?\u2019 And I think early on that was part of the things I would worry about.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe realized we were on the same stages of life and we were ready for the same things \u2026 I\u2019m in a place where I want to get married and have children and he\u2019s also in that same place,\u201d Joy chimed in. <\/p>\n

But we guess that\u2019s only natural given the amount of criticism they\u2019ve received.<\/p>\n
