The White Lotus<\/em><\/a> creator Mike White<\/strong> is taking another crack at Survivor<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n The filmmaker, 54, was announced as a member of the cast, along with 23 other returning players, for the upcoming milestone 50th season of the CBS reality TV competition on Wednesday, May 28. He previously competed on season 37 in 2018, known as \u201cDavid vs. Goliath,\u201d and came in second place.<\/p>\n \u201cMike, after he finished playing, said, \u2018I want to play again.\u2019 And that was before White Lotus<\/em>,\u201d host and executive producer Jeff Probst said on CBS Mornings<\/em><\/a> on Wednesday as the cast list was announced. \u201cWhen White Lotus hit, and I thought, \u2018Well, he\u2019ll never play again.\u2019 But he kept texting and saying, \u2018Look, I\u2019m serious. If you ever do anything where you have returning players, I want to play again.\u2019 So we\u2019re happy to have Mike.\u201d<\/p>\n CBS Mornings<\/em> host Vladimir Duthiers<\/strong> then pointed out that Mike is \u201cnow one of the most powerful guys in Hollywood\u201d and has even cast Survivor<\/em> alums like Alec Merlino<\/strong> and Angelina Keeley<\/strong> in The White Lotus<\/em>. He noted that fellow contestants would likely want to stay on Mike\u2019s good side.<\/p>\n \u201cDon\u2019t think Mike White, who is clever enough to write and direct White Lotus, has not thought about that,\u201d Jeff, 63, joked. \u201cI\u2019m sure it\u2019s gone through his head, too.\u201d<\/p>\n Before his run on Survivor<\/em>, Mike \u2014 who is also known for writing and starring in School of Rock<\/em> (2003) \u2014 competed on The Amazing Race<\/em> season 14 in 2009 and The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business<\/em> in 2011.<\/p>\n While he is recognized for other projects, including Nacho Libre<\/em> (2006) and Enlightened<\/em> (2011), Mike is most famous for creating, writing and directing HBO\u2019s The White Lotus<\/em>, which concluded its third season in April. The black comedy drama anthology series has earned him six total Emmy nominations and three wins.<\/p>\n Mike White<\/p>\n <\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n Despite his success with filmmaking, Mike has been open about wanting to return to Survivor<\/em> and loving the reality show.<\/p>\n
