Beyonc\u00e9<\/strong><\/a> is one of the most famous and decorated pop stars of all time, but she\u2019s also a mom<\/a> \u2014 and sometimes she can\u2019t resist making her public appearances a family affair.<\/p>\n

During her Renaissance World Tour<\/em> in 2023, the Grammy winner was joined on stage multiple times by her eldest daughter, Blue Ivy<\/a>, who was born in January 2012. While some observers assumed Beyonc\u00e9 was a typical stage mom who encouraged Blue to take up dance, the \u201cTyrant\u201d singer said that wasn\u2019t the case at all.<\/p>\n

\u201cBlue told me she was ready to perform, and I told her no. I did not think it was an appropriate place for an 11-year-old on a stadium stage,\u201d the Houston native said during her 2023 concert movie, Renaissance: A Film by Beyonc\u00e9<\/em>. \u201cAll the things that I had to go through and obstacles I had to overcome prepared me, and she hasn\u2019t had that struggle. I made a deal with her, and I said, \u2018If you practice and you show your commitment, I\u2019ll let you do one show.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Blue took her mom\u2019s word to heart, practicing so much that one show became several, followed by another dancing stint on the Cowboy Carter Tour<\/em> in 2025. At several shows, her little sister, Rumi, joined the fun too, waving to the crowd alongside her family. The \u201cTexas Hold \u2018Em\u201d singer kicked off her Cowboy Carter Tour at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on Monday, April 28, with both Blue Ivy, 13, and Rumi Carter, 7, making special appearances. Just as she did during Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s hit Renaissance World Tour in 2023, Blue joined [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While Rumi isn\u2019t dancing just yet, her grandma Tina Knowles<\/strong> confirmed that she already loves the spotlight. \u201cI said, \u2018How do you feel when you wave and everybody screams?\u2019\u201d Knowles recalled during a May 2025 Matriarch <\/em>book event<\/a> in Brooklyn. \u201cShe said, \u2018It feels powerful.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Blue technically made her onstage debut as a fetus when her mom performed \u201cLove on Top\u201d at the VMAs. After the song finished, Beyonc\u00e9 rubbed her hand over her belly to wild cheers from the crowd. Jay-Z, meanwhile, grinned and saluted her from the front row.<\/p>\n

When Beyonc\u00e9 accepted the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, she performed a medley of her greatest hits \u2014 and Blue was in the audience, bopping along on her dad\u2019s lap. Later, Jay-Z brought his daughter up on stage with him to present Beyonc\u00e9 with her moonperson as the crowd chanted her name. \u201cBlue Blue, I love you,\u201d the singer told her daughter after thanking her fans.<\/p>\n

That night, she took home trophies for Best Urban Contemporary Album for Lemonade<\/em> and Best Music Video for \u201cFormation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Blue danced at several shows on her mother\u2019s world tour in 2023. Beyonc\u00e9 noted that she was not initially a fan of the idea \u2014 and she made sure her daughter worked hard to earn her place. \u201cShe has been creating characters since she was 3. She\u2019s a natural, but I did not want Blue onstage,\u201d the \u201cHold Up\u201d artist told GQ<\/em> in 2024. \u201cBlue wanted it for herself. She took it seriously and she earned it.
