The 80-year-old actor and Catherine, 55, have been married since November 2000 and as well as their girl Carys they have son, Dylan, 24, who also attended Brown University \u2013 graduating in 2022, just like his sister.<\/p>\n
Michael \u2013\u00a0who is also father to 46-year-old son Cameron, from his previous marriage to Diandra Luker, which lasted 18 years before ending in 2000 \u2013\u00a0marked Carys\u2019 milestone by posing for a photo that saw him and Catherine kissing Carys, 22, on each cheek as she stood in the middle of them beaming.<\/p>\n
Catherine posted the snap on her Instagram and captioned it: \u201cWe are both such proud parents right now!! It\u2019s only just begun!!\u201d The image was taken the night before Carys\u2019 graduation ceremony, with her wearing a white full-length dress, while Michael opted for a navy suit and Catherine was in a black two-piece suit. <\/p>\n
Carys received her degree in Film and International Relations from the Ivy League university, located in Providence, Rhode Island.<\/p>\n
\nCatherine, who starred in \u2018The Mask of Zorro\u2019, also posted more details from the celebrations on her Instagram stories, including a cake decorated with the message \u201cCongratulations Graduation Class of 25\u201d and group photos of Carys and her fellow graduates on the steps of the university. <\/p>\n
\nOther images showed emotional embraces and joyful moments shared among the graduating class.<\/p>\n
\nIn a 2010 interview with AARP The Magazine, Michael reflected on how fatherhood later in life had changed his perspective. <\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cMy career was the most important thing in my life, followed by marriage and children. And it\u2019s completely reversed now. I never anticipated starting a family and the joy of raising kids at my age.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nSpeaking to The Telegraph in 2024, Michael also recounted an incident where he was mistaken for Carys\u2019 grandfather during a visit to the university. <\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cThis is not grandfather\u2019s day, this is parents\u2019 day. I say, \u2018I am a parent. That was a rough one.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nMichael also described how life had shifted as he and his wife entered a new phase of parenting. <\/p>\n
\nHe added: \u201cCatherine and I have been together it\u2019ll be 25 years this year. So it\u2019s been a good ride and I\u2019ve been very fortunate, happy with the choices that I\u2019ve made and now am kind of really backing off and smelling the roses a little more, traveling more.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe actor also called Carys and Dylan \u201cextraordinary beings\u201d and said they have been \u201ca joy\u201d to raise.<\/p>\n
