The Last of Us<\/em><\/a> season 2 finale ends with a major cliffhanger \u2014 and the fan theory about where this season ends has been confirmed.<\/p>\n

Spoilers for The Last of Us season 2, episode 7 below.<\/em><\/p>\n

The episode opens with Ellie (Bella Ramsey<\/strong>) returning to the abandoned theater where Jesse (Young Mazino<\/strong>) had just removed \u2014 quite gruesomely, we might add \u2014 the arrow out of Dina\u2019s (Isabela Merced<\/strong>) leg. Yes, she\u2019s still alive \u2026 and still pregnant.<\/a><\/p>\n

Ellie goes to check on Dina and reveals that she tortured Nora<\/a> (Tati Gabrielle<\/strong>) for information about Abby\u2019s (Kaitlyn Dever<\/strong>) whereabouts. Nora, kind of, gave Ellie details on how to find Abby, but more on that in a second. During their conversation, Ellie shares the truth<\/a> about why Abby murdered Joel.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to go home,\u201d Dina declares after hearing Ellie\u2019s admission. Ellie agrees.<\/p>\n

Before they can leave Seattle, however, Ellie and Jesse must find Tommy (Gabriel Luna<\/strong>). On the way to their rendezvous point, Ellie accidentally confirms Dina\u2019s pregnancy to Jesse \u2014 putting even more tension between them.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a little bit of an aside here in order for Issac (Jeffrey Wright<\/strong>) to explain why Abby is so important. He needs her to take over the Washington Liberation Front (WLF) if something happens to him during the ongoing turf war with the Seraphites. However, Abby is missing.<\/p>\n

The unspoken issues between Jesse and Ellie continue to mount as they make it to an abandoned bookstore and Tommy is not there. When a storm comes to Seattle, they are forced to stay put and the two argue. Much to Ellie\u2019s surprise, her relationship with Dina is not Jesse\u2019s issue. He basically accuses her of being selfish (which, yeah) and reveals that he voted \u201cno\u201d to the people of Jackson sending out a hunting party to get revenge<\/a> for Joel\u2019s death. Ellie didn\u2019t love that, so she does what she does best: flees.<\/p>\n

By this point, Ellie figured out what Nora meant by \u201cwhale\u201d and \u201cwheel.\u201d Abby and her crew are stationed in the aquarium which has a whale painted on the side of the building and is by a ferris wheel \u2014 so that\u2019s where she heads. On the way there she briefly gets captured \u2014 and almost disemboweled \u2014 by the Seraphites who let her go. It seems their war against the WLF became more important than murder.<\/p>\n

After making it inside the aquarium, Ellie sees Mel (Ariela Barer<\/strong>) and Owen (Spencer Lord<\/strong>) from Abby\u2019s crew. Ellie ends up killing both of them in self-defense and, surprise, Mel was pregnant. Jesse \u2014 because he knew where Ellie was heading \u2014 eventually makes it into the aquarium with Tommy before heading back to get Dina and finally leave Seattle.<\/p>\n

But the best-laid plans often go wrong. Back at the theater, the trio are planning their escape route when Tommy gets injured, Jesse gets killed and Ellie and Abby come face-to-face.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know why you killed Joel. He did what he did to save me. I\u2019m the one that you want,\u201d Ellie says while Abby has her gun pointed at Tommy. \u201cJust let him go.\u201d<\/p>\n
