The \u201cPiano Man\u201d singer, 76, announced via Instagram on Friday, May 23, that he was cancelling \u201call scheduled concerts\u201d due to being diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH).<\/p>\n
NPH is a \u201cbrain disorder in which excess cerebrospinal fluid accumulates in the brain\u2019s ventricles, which are fluid-filled chambers,\u201d according to the Alzheimer\u2019s Association<\/a>. \u201cAs brain ventricles enlarge with the excess CSF, they can disrupt and damage nearby brain tissue, leading to difficulty walking, problems with thinking and reasoning, and loss of bladder control.\u201d<\/p>\nBilly\u2019s team explained via Instagram<\/a> that NPH has caused \u201cproblems with hearing, vision, and balance,\u201d which impacted other recent live performances<\/a>.
