It\u2019s a British invasion! King Charles III<\/strong><\/a> and Queen Camilla<\/strong><\/a> appeared on American Idol<\/em> <\/a>after Katy Perry<\/strong><\/a> and Lionel Richie<\/strong><\/a> played at the coronation concert on Sunday, May 7.<\/p>\n During ABC\u2019s broadcast of the competition series, guest judges<\/a> Alanis Morrisette<\/a><\/strong> and Ed Sheeran<\/strong><\/a> filled in for Perry, 38, and Richie, 73. However, Idol<\/em> checked in with the duo via satellite.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat a party, what a party. It was unbelievable,\u201d the \u201cAll Night Long\u201d singer said.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was incredible,\u201d Perry chimed in.<\/p>\n Richie that they were hoping to give Idol viewers a surprise. \u201cNow we were trying to figure out what can we do to bring something different to the show. So, I would like to \u2014 Katy, excuse me, I have a surprise,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Perry moved to the side so Charles, 74, and Camilla, 75, could stand between them.<\/p>\n \u201cAre you planning to do this all night long?\u201d the king quipped, referring to Richie\u2019s famous song. \u201cI just wanted to check how long you\u2019ll be using this room for.\u201d<\/p>\n The \u201cHello\u201d crooner laughed, \u201cWe have to give the room up right away!\u201d<\/p>\n The monarch turned sincere as he praised their performances at Windsor Castle earlier that day. \u201cThank you so much for your brilliant performance. And Katy, it was wonderful. It really was,\u201d Charles gushed.<\/p>\n \u201cYou were fantastic, absolutely fantastic,\u201d Camilla added.<\/p>\n The performers said the regents were hosting a festive get-together as coronation weekend came to a close.<\/p>\n \u201cWe understand there\u2019s a party,\u201d Richie said.<\/p>\n \u201cAh, you\u2019ve heard about that, have you?\u201d Charles remarked, cheekily adding, \u201cYou\u2019re busy with all these other things.\u201d<\/p>\n The Alabama native assured him, \u201cAs soon as we finish, we\u2019re coming to the party.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWell, you deserve it, bless you,\u201d the king said. \u201cThank you both so much.
