And Just Like That<\/em><\/a> star Nicole Ari Parker<\/strong><\/a> is teasing what\u2019s in store for Lisa Todd Wexley next season \u2014 but will there be trouble in paradise for her happily married character?<\/p>\n

When Max released the official season 3 trailer for the Sex and the City<\/em><\/a> spinoff, fans saw Parker\u2019s character asking Charlotte (Kristin Davis<\/strong>), \u201cIt\u2019s OK to have a work crush, right?\u201d Lisa\u2019s husband, Herbert (Chris Jackson<\/strong>), however, has questions after finding a selfie she took with her handsome new colleague, played by Mehcad Brooks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly<\/em> for this week\u2019s cover story<\/a>, Parker revealed that she was surprised by the risky story line \u2014 but she couldn\u2019t share many more details.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t say a word,\u201d she told Us<\/em>, joking that she \u201csigned so many documents\u201d to stay spoiler-free.<\/p>\n

Parker did give credit where it\u2019s due, shouting out Michael Patrick King<\/strong> and his \u201cgreat writing team of women\u201d behind the scenes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey really established the Wexleys [as a couple] \u2026 and they put a little danger in there,\u201d she teased.<\/p>\n

Viewers met LTW, a documentary filmmaker and mother of three, when AJLT<\/em> debuted in 2021. Throughout the series, she\u2019s struggled to balance her responsibilities<\/a> at work and at home, especially as Herbert launches his political campaign. On top of their busy careers, the couple navigated Lisa\u2019s unexpected pregnancy and miscarriage during season 2.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just wanted to do it justice,\u201d Parker said of the emotional story line. \u201cAnd it was difficult to act, in a way, because [the show is] drama and comedy, and you have to bounce back. So my next scene or next episode might be a little lighter. So how do you honor that? \u2026 You still have to carry the truth of what your character went through.\u201d<\/p>\n

With such a \u201cfemale-centered\u201d project, Parker knew her character\u2019s journey<\/a> would strike a chord. \u201cYou can feel other women on the page, at the table read,\u201d she continued. \u201cYou can feel all the women that might be going through this particular thing or that particular thing. You can feel how responsible you are for the story line.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tCraig Blankenhorn\/Max Sex and the City spinoff series And Just Like That is returning for a third season \u2014 and the upcoming episodes are already the talk of the town. The original series, which ran on HBO from 1998 to 2004, focused on Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her dating life in New York alongside [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Though she can\u2019t spill many secrets about what\u2019s to come when AJLT<\/em> returns this month, Parker hinted that the drama won\u2019t slow down any time soon. \u201cEvery year, I have to be deeper, funnier, sadder, more optimistic, sexier. It is everything. \u2026 [The fans] aren\u2019t ready.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joining the ranks of already beloved characters<\/a> like Charlotte, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker<\/strong>) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon<\/strong>) in Samantha\u2019s (Kim Cattrall<\/strong>) absence was no easy feat, but Parker told Us<\/em> she was \u201cjust happy to be at the party\u201d when her AJLT<\/em> journey began.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was happy to work and to be in this iconic group of people,\u201d she continued. \u201cI could have been the waiter. I was very happy. But the writers and [Michael Patrick King], they just didn\u2019t let one character be insignificant. They really gave them backstory in the moment, drama and comedy, and no one was unfinished right from the gate. It\u2019s an actor\u2019s dream.\u201d<\/p>\n
