Summer House<\/em> <\/a>star Amanda Batula<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0exclusively opened up to Us Weekly<\/em> about her surprising comments in the season 9 reunion trailer about having children with husband Kyle Cooke<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s gonna have to be on my page. If he could grow the baby, it could be on his timeline. But it\u2019s happening in this body,\u201d she told Us<\/em> while promoting Face Reality<\/a> for Mental Health Awareness Month.<\/p>\n

One of the most dramatic moments in the trailer released on Thursday, May 21, sees Amanda and Kyle clashing over \u201cthe future\u201d of their relationship. Kyle insists that \u201ceverything\u201d he\u2019s doing career-wise is to \u201cbuild a future,\u201d before Amanda insists \u201cthere will be no future if all he does is work.\u201d<\/p>\n

When Amanda later insists that Kyle is \u201cnot ready to have kids,\u201d her husband questions whether his wife is ready to start a family either.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m ready to have kids with someone who\u2019s ready to have kids with me,\u201d Amanda shot back.<\/p>\n

Amanda offered a bit more context on the disagreement, telling Us<\/em> that she felt \u201cfrustration\u201d about the way Kyle broached the subject of having kids throughout Summer House season 9.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a lot of stuff on this season that was like, him wanting to be a father, and, like, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, but he\u2019s having this conversation with other people, and not the person that\u2019s supposed to carry his child,\u201d she pointed out. \u201cSo if he was actively [saying], \u2018Hey, I want to have kids. Like, we should start trying to have kids,\u2019 that would be different. That\u2019s not a conversation that we\u2019re having.\u201d<\/p>\n

She went on, \u201c[Kyle has] been DJing, he\u2019s gone every weekend. Like, in what world exactly? I know that he wants to be a father one day, but I know he\u2019s not ready. And if he was ready, you know, I think he would be like, \u2018I\u2019m ready to have a family.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Touching on some other memorable moments from the season, Amanda revealed what it was like watching costars Lindsay Hubbard<\/strong> and Carl Radke<\/strong>\u2019s confrontation over her breakup anniversary IG post at the now-infamous \u201cFreedom Dinner.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s moments like these that make me appreciate and love Lindsay so much, because it\u2019s just chaos,\u201d she recalled. \u201cBecause who in what world would you put together a dinner on the anniversary of your fianc\u00e9 ending your relationship while he\u2019s sitting at the same table? Literally, and making everyone eat? It was just such an iconic moment. She\u2019s just reality TV gold. I\u2019m obsessed with her. And I give Carl a lot of props for that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amanda hinted that fans can expect many more dramatic moments from Lindsay next season even though her costar welcomed daughter Gemma<\/a> in December 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cLindsay is not leaving our TV screens anytime. Even if she breaks into the house, she will make her way onto our TV screens,\u201d Amanda joked. \u201cWe won\u2019t let it happen for her to leave, um, but I don\u2019t know what next summer looks like. We\u2019re gonna have to see. I mean, she\u2019s definitely gonna be there. Gemma should not come because Kyle\u2019s music and antics are not as safe for babies. We haven\u2019t baby proofed the house. But yeah it\u2019s gonna be interesting. It might be different. We haven\u2019t really heard yet, so we\u2019ll see.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amanda promised \u201ca lot of laughs\u201d at the season 9 reunion, even at times there \u201cshouldn\u2019t have been\u201d much to laugh about.<\/p>\n

Away from Summer House<\/em>, Amanda reflected on how she started focusing on her mental health after working with Face Reality Skincare on intense skin breakouts.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I went off birth control, my skin got really, really bad,\u201d she explained. \u201cI was breaking out so severely. And I was also filming while I was going through these breakouts. I couldn\u2019t figure out my skin. And then once I finally sort of got it under control, my skin was never the way that it was before I went off birth control, so still dealing with breakouts, just the texture, everything was different.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued. \u201c[Paige DeSorbo<\/strong>] from the show actually had been working with Face Reality<\/a>, and I saw what it did for her skin. And when they reached out to me too, I was like,\u2019 Yes, please. I need to get this acne under control. I need to figure it out for good.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Amanda clarified that her skin issues<\/a> weren\u2019t \u201cthe leading factor\u201d in mental health issues, though acne did keep her \u201cindoors and not wanting to go out.\u201d (Amanda has spoken in the past about taking antidepressant medication<\/a> to manage depression.)<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you don\u2019t feel good, when you have one pimple, you think everyone can see it, and then when you have 20, you\u2019re like, \u2018Oh my God, my whole face is one big pebble. [I\u2019m] not leaving the house,\u2019\u201d she noted. \u201cSo [my skin] definitely played a role in my depression, too. So once I was on my antidepressants and feeling better, it\u2019s like, \u2018Okay, now the next step is to really tackle my skin\u2019 and Face Reality has been an absolute saving grace. It really helped me get my confidence back.\u201d<\/p>\n

She recalled, \u201cI was breaking out again, the way that I was in high school, and I was like, \u2018I\u2019m too old for this.\u2019 I saw a doctor. [They said], \u2018You have adult acne.\u2019 I was like, Okay, great. But, what\u2019s the solution? Like, what do we do about it? Yeah? Like, I need to do something. And Face Reality came in and saved the day. This is truly incredible. There\u2019s so many good things, and there\u2019s something for everyone. Like, you don\u2019t need to be on a super strong acne regimen, right?\u201d<\/p>\n

The Summer House stars\u2019 romance has played out on the Bravo series since season 1, which premiered in January 2017. Cooke, who met Batula during the summer of 2015, signed on [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cSomething like spot treatments just around your like your period or cycle, or when you have a breakout, it doesn\u2019t have to be something super strong. But then there are those options too for people that have a lot more acne and are really trying to take care of it,\u201d she pointed out. \u201cI love it. It\u2019s super custom [treatment].\u201d<\/p>\n

Amanda acknowledged that there is \u201cno secret sauce\u201d to prioritizing mental health though she stressed the importance of self-care.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think like keeping busy and doing things for me, I feel like my head was down for so long,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd, I went to school for graphic design. I was a graphic designer that was, like, my whole thing, and I was working in design with [husband Kyle\u2019s beverage company] Loverboy, but it wasn\u2019t the stuff I wanted to be doing.\u201d<\/p>\n
