Say bonjour to glamour on the Cannes Film Festival 2025 red carpet<\/a>. As the Cannes Film Festival 2025 features 22 films in competition for the Palme d\u2019Or, the annual international festival\u2019s highest prize, actors arrive on the French Riviera ready to celebrate and support their projects, all while dressed to the nines.<\/p>\n Whether stars are inspired by the Croisette\u2019s picturesque surroundings (think beautiful beaches with crystal clear water) or just adhering to the festival\u2019s formal dress code, the Cannes Film Festival 2025 red carpet is the place for cinematic style spotting. For screenings at the Grand Th\u00e9\u00e2tre Lumi\u00e8re, the festival asserts<\/a>, \u201cEveningwear (long dress, tuxedo) is required,\u201d before also suggesting \u201ca cocktail dress, a dark-colored pantsuit, a dressy top with black pants, elegant shoes and sandals with or without a heel (no sneakers), a black or navy blue suit with bow tie or dark-colored tie.\u201d<\/p>\n This year, there are so many films to be excited about at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, which runs from Tuesday, May 13, through Saturday, May 24, 2025. Things will kick off with Partir un Jour,<\/em> a French comedy from director Am\u00e9lie Bonnin<\/strong> that will open the festival. The Tom Cruise<\/strong>\u2013fronted Mission: Impossible\u2014The Final Reckoning,<\/em> which also stars Hannah Waddingham, Angela Bassett<\/a>,<\/strong> Nick Offerman, Hayley Atwell, Tramell Tillman,<\/strong> and Simon Pegg,<\/strong> will have its world premiere on Wednesday, May 14.<\/p>\n A few days later, Wes Anderson<\/strong>\u2019s new film, The Phoenician Scheme,<\/em> will debut on Sunday, May 18, before being released in the United States on May 30. In Anderson\u2019s latest effort, Benicio Del Toro<\/strong> plays a wealthy businessman who enlists his estranged daughter (played by Kate Winslet<\/strong>\u2019s daughter, Mia Threapleton<\/strong><\/a>) and her Norwegian tutor (Michael Cera<\/strong>) to secure his family\u2019s future. It is said to be Threapleton\u2019s breakout role.<\/p>\n Further on, Spike Lee<\/strong>\u2019s Highest 2 Lowest,<\/em> which stars Denzel Washington<\/strong> as a music mogul who gets caught up in a ransom plot, will have its world premiere on Monday, May 19, and The History of Sound<\/em><\/a>, Oliver Hermanus<\/strong>\u2019s historical drama starring Josh O\u2019Connor<\/strong> and Paul Mescal<\/a>,<\/strong> will play to festival attendees on Wednesday, May 21.
