Justin Timberlake<\/a>, 44, and reflected on the challenge while discussing her eldest boy\u2019s recent appearance with her at the 2024 US Open.<\/p>\nJessica told InStyle the decision to attend the tennis tournament together was made carefully after taking into account Silas\u2019 enthusiasm for the sport and the inevitable media attention it would bring.<\/p>\n
She said about exposing him to the spotlight: \u201cIt\u2019s a tricky one, a tricky balance. We do really try hard not to expose them in a way that they\u2019re not comfortable with.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jessica also explained Silas is a \u201chuge fan\u201d of tennis and had expressed interest in attending. <\/p>\n
\nEven though he\u2019s still young, the actress added he was part of a conversation around whether to go to the tennis with her. <\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cWe talked about photographers \u2013\u00a0you know, \u2018Are you comfortable with that?\u2019 <\/p>\n
\n\u201cHe can\u2019t make these decisions on his own, but at this point, we can at least discuss what\u2019s his opinion around it.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cYou really want to give your kids every experience. I don\u2019t know if it was the right decision, to be honest with you, but he and I had a good time.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nJessica and Justin, who married in 2012, have long kept their children out of the public eye. <\/p>\n
\nBut in August 2023, she made an exception, bringing Silas to the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, New York, where the pair were photographed watching Karolina Muchova defeat Naomi Osaka in the second round.<\/p>\n
\nJessica also said exposing her children to potential public scrutiny remains a concern. <\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201cIt\u2019s scary every time. But it\u2019s also their life. And so it\u2019s this really tricky, tricky thing to figure out, what\u2019s appropriate.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe actress stressed despite the occasional public outing, she remains firmly against introducing her sons to social media. <\/p>\n
\nAs for any future in the entertainment industry, Jessica hopes they\u2019ll wait until adulthood.<\/p>\n
\nShe said about Silas: \u201cIf he was a kid actor, he\u2019d probably work all the time. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd when you\u2019re 18 years old, you want to be a professional? Have at it. That\u2019s your choice. That\u2019s what I would like to hold on to, if possible, for him, you know?\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe actor also spoke about the pressure of raising a family in the public eye, noting privacy was one reason the family relocated from the West Coast. <\/p>\n
\nShe told the \u2018Let\u2019s Talk Off Camera\u2019 podcast in 2024: \u201cWe get hammered (by the paparazzi) in the West Coast. That\u2019s why we don\u2019t live there anymore to try and create some normalcy.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cNo disrespect to anyone who feels comfortable doing that \u2013 that\u2019s just our family choice. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cMaybe it\u2019s a mistake. I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n
