The 47-year-old actor admitted his physical health isn’t what it used to be and he’s resigned to the fact he wouldn’t make a full recovery from his various ailments.<\/p>\n
He told the new issue of Esquire magazine: \u201cI\u2019ve had two knee surgeries now, my disc\u2019s herniated in my back, I\u2019ve got sciatica as well. <\/p>\n
“And I have that\u2026 is it plantar fasciitis? Where did that come from? And why? Why?! And I pulled my tendon in my hip as well. It\u2019s like, it\u2019s all falling to bits now, and it\u2019s not going to get better.\u201d<\/p>\n
But the ‘MobLand’ star admitted he’s considered homeopathic “tinctures” and would also look into “stem cell” treatments.<\/p>\n
\nAsked if he’d try the latter, he said: \u201cProbably, yeah. I think if it comes down to the wire and it seems the sensible thing to do and I take advice.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nTom’s ambition has changed as he’s got older and no longer feels he has anything to prove.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cThere\u2019s a sort of, I guess, maturing. I\u2019ve done a little bit in every single genre that I\u2019ve ever wanted to do, and I\u2019ve played on some big fields, you know? I\u2019ve done some stinkers, I\u2019ve done some cool things, I\u2019ve played with some really amazing luminaries and people, I\u2019ve had some really cool opportunities. I\u2019m not retiring myself but I\u2019m just saying, \u2018What do you want to do with that?\u2019<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI\u2019ve been running at something that I had to run at, to get an understanding that it\u2019s not going anywhere.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThere\u2019s only more, more, more. Of what? Stomach ulcers? Blood pressure? Your knees are going, your hair\u2019s falling out, your teeth are wonky, you\u2019re almost 50\u2026 Maybe it\u2019s a self-worth thing, maybe it\u2019s not finishing school, maybe it\u2019s not being good enough.<\/p>\n
\n“But all this \u2018I\u2019ll show, I\u2019ll show\u2019\u2026 Show who? No one cares! I know I can do it. Well then, chill out.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAnd as he moves closer to a new decade, Tom noted he is now \u201cat the bottom of the old-man ladder when it comes to characters”.<\/p>\n
\nHe added: \u201cSo I\u2019m a newcomer for [‘King Lear’]. I\u2019m the baby, I\u2019ve got to grow into that, but that\u2019s kind of where we\u2019re at now.<\/p>\n
\n“Because you either stay on this and it\u2019s confectionery, and it will be rewarded as such, and it\u2019s lovely. But it doesn\u2019t sustain the part of me that wants to grow.\u201d<\/p>\n
