Rose McGowan<\/strong><\/a> is sharing an update on her life, five years after leaving the States behind for a new chapter in Mexico.<\/p>\n

The actress, 51, moved to Mexico in 2020 and became a permanent resident of the country the following year. People<\/i> reported<\/a> on Friday, May 9 that while speaking on a panel at 90s Con<\/a> in Hartford, Connecticut, McGowan divulged new details of what it\u2019s been like to live in a different country.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy father lived in Mexico for 35 years and mi gusta Mexico. Te quiero much, mi amores,\u201d McGowan said. \u201cIt is an incredible country. It is so wildly geographically diverse, culturally diverse and just very, very special. There\u2019s so much joy.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cMy favorite word in Spanish is alegria, which means joy, and there\u2019s so much of that there and color and passion and fun and different. Just different. And you know I had to talk for a lot of years<\/a>, kind of more than normal people might.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tRose McGowan wishes she formed a friendship with Shannen Doherty sooner. \u201cIf I have any regrets, I wish I could have gotten to know her sooner,\u201d McGowan, 50, said on the Friday, August 23, episode of the \u201cLet\u2019s Be Clear With Shannen Doherty\u201d podcast. The Charmed<\/em> alum, who was a prominent figure in the #MeToo movement and outspoken against disgraced movie mogul <\/a>Harvey Weinstein,<\/strong> shared that one of the reasons behind the move was because she was seeking a quieter life than somewhere like Hollywood or New York could offer.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a point where I just got really talked out. I just wanted to listen,\u201d she said. \u201cI wanted silence, and I wanted to listen more than I wanted to talk.\u201d<\/p>\n

Like with any big move to another country \u2014 particularly one where its citizens don\u2019t speak your native language \u2014 there are aspects McGowan needed to adjust to, she admitted.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s things about it that are difficult, just like anywhere, and it\u2019s certainly a challenge sometimes, doing things when, at first, you don\u2019t really know the language,\u201d she said. \u201cYou\u2019re navigating a totally different system. You learn very quickly, though.\u201d<\/p>\n

McGowan announced in 2020 via her social media that she had relocated to Mexico in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n
