Sheriff Country<\/em> is a spinoff of Fire Country<\/em><\/a> \u2014 but how do the shows differ?<\/p>\n

While speaking to Us Weekly<\/em> at CBS Fest on Wednesday, May 7, actress Michele Weaver<\/strong> weighed in on the similarities \u2014 and differences \u2014 between the shows.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s so new. But I do think there is a little bit of a different element just because on Sheriff Country<\/em> we\u2019re really following a story behind a female lead and the dynamics of what it\u2019s like to be a strong female in a male dominated workplace,\u201d Weaver, 35, noted. \u201cAlso, I do think naturally when you\u2019re at a sheriff\u2019s house and not a firehouse, the problems that you\u2019re dealing with are a little bit different.\u201d<\/p>\n

Weaver teased how the stakes compare<\/a>, adding, \u201cIt\u2019s not as catastrophic necessarily as much as people issues. This is what\u2019s really exciting is to see the dynamic between the citizens of the city that we already know and love in a new way.\u201d<\/p>\n

The world of Edgewater, meanwhile, has continued to grow, with a Sheriff Country spinoff centered around Sharon\u2019s (Diane Farr<\/strong>) sister Mickey (Morena Baccarin<\/strong>) and a possible second offshoot with <\/a>Jared Padalecki\u2019<\/strong>s character, Camden Casey, which is still in consideration.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are crossovers happening,\u201d Weaver teased. \u201cThere\u2019s only a few episodes \u2014 but there has been some.\u201d<\/p>\n

Weaver was recently announced in the role of Cassidy, who is a deputy in the Edgewater County Sheriff\u2019s Office. After getting inspired by Mickey to join law enforcement, Cassidy puts Mickey on a pedestal and must now figure out what kind of deputy she wants to be.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe world [in Sheriff Country<\/em>] is already created, which is wonderful. Because sometimes when you start a show, there\u2019s a lot of stress around the world because it is about whether people will feel like they can join that world, go on a ride in that world, want to live in that world,\u201d the actress explained. \u201cSo we know that people love that world already, which is a bonus.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFire Country\u2018s spinoff, Sheriff Country, hasn\u2019t even premiered yet but there\u2019s already questions about which characters will make crossover appearances. Fans were originally introduced to the town of Edgewater when Fire Country premiered with inmate Bode (Max Thieriot) returning home and volunteering for the California Conservation Camp Program during season 1 of the hit show. Weaver continued: \u201cAt the same time \u2014 because they already love it \u2014 we want to make sure that we don\u2019t turn them off or disappoint them. But I think with all things you\u2019re going to get that as a performer, as an artist, as a storyteller, you just put your full heart into it. You try and be as honest as possible and people are going to like it or they don\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n
