Scheana Shay<\/strong><\/a> got very emotional while getting candid about her recent struggle with depression.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have really just been feeling depressed the last six months. It was something that I kept trying to just mask and say, \u2018No, I\u2019m fine. It\u2019ll go away,’\u201d Shay, 40, revealed on the Friday, May 9, episode of her \u201cScheananigans\u201d podcast<\/a>. \u201cBut it all started around The Masked Singer<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shay, 40, recalled having reservations about joining the Fox competition show.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI got asked to do the show. I immediately was like, \u2018Hard pass, absolutely not.\u2019 I didn\u2019t care how much money they\u2019re paying me. I was not going to go on another show on national television just to get made fun of,\u201d she recalled. \u201cThis was something that was so far out of my comfort zone. That was so scary to go on a show that\u2019s primetime national television.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vanderpump Rules was introduced to Bravo viewers during a special episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in January 2013. Season 1 starred Lisa Vanderpump, who was a Beverly Hills Housewife at the time, Stassi [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Shay ultimately chose to participate as The Bat<\/a> but was eliminated after singing one song: \u201cEspresso\u201d by Sabrina Carpenter<\/strong>. After her short stint on the show, Shay recalled her mental health taking a turn for the worse.<\/p>\n

\u201cI totally had a meltdown in my trailer. I\u2019m like, \u2018This is why I didn\u2019t want to do this show. I\u2019m not good enough. I get sent home first. Now everyone\u2019s going to make fun of me,’\u201d she said. \u201cI just wanted to put myself out there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shay didn\u2019t realize at the time that she internalized her issues instead of addressing them, adding, \u201cI just was like, \u2018Maybe I up my meds a little bit.\u2019 But then I started grinding my teeth a lot at night. So I\u2019m like, \u2018No, I\u2019ll just go back to like 25 mg.\u2019 As if that\u2019s enough Zoloft for anyone. It\u2019s not. I\u2019ve learned that and I\u2019m now at 75 mg and considering 100 mg.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cIn that time, I was able to talk to my psychiatrist and able to talk to my therapist. Then it\u2019s the holidays. We\u2019re getting into Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year\u2019s and then wildfires across Los Angeles.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was one \u201cheavy month\u201d after another<\/a> for Shay. \u201cIt was just a few really heavy months emotionally. Then we\u2019re in March and the show\u2019s airing,\u201d she explained. \u201cNow I really need to focus on what\u2019s been brewing and what\u2019s going on. Because I felt like getting sent home first was part of it \u2014 but it couldn\u2019t be all of it.\u201d<\/p>\n
