The cast and crew of Gossip Girl<\/em><\/a> honored their former costar Michelle Trachtenberg<\/strong><\/a> following the news of her death at age 39.<\/p>\n

\u201cMichelle was one of a kind,\u201d Chace Crawford<\/strong>, who played Nate Archibald, wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, February 26. \u201cI remember her coming on set for the first time and just absolutely owning it. She was a force of nature and just so so unapologetically funny and magnetic.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor, 39, included two selfies with Trachtenberg as well a snap that appeared to show them on the set of Gossip Girl<\/em>, which aired from 2007 to 2012 on The CW.<\/p>\n

Police sources confirmed to Us Weekly<\/em> earlier on Wednesday that Trachtenberg was found unconscious inside her New York City apartment. No cause of death has been reported, and the incident is not believed to be suspicious.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tGossip Girl star Michelle Trachtenberg has\u00a0died at age 39. Police sources confirmed to Us Weekly on Wednesday, February 26, that Trachtenberg was found unconscious inside her Midtown West Side apartment in New York City. The incident is not believed to be suspicious. No cause of death has been reported. (The New York Post was the [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Trachtenberg\u2019s representative later addressed the news<\/a> in a statement, telling Us<\/em> on Wednesday, \u201cIt is with great sadness to confirm that Michelle Trachtenberg has passed away. The family requests privacy for their loss. There are no further details at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Multiple sources told Us<\/em> that the Ice Princess<\/em> actress had a liver transplant<\/a> prior to her death.<\/p>\n

Trachtenberg broke out as a child star in the 1996 film Harriet the Spy<\/em>, which was based on Louise Fitzhugh<\/strong>\u2019s 1964 novel of the same name. She later appeared in shows including The Adventures of Pete & Pete<\/em>, Buffy the Vampire Slayer<\/em> and Six Feet Under<\/em>.<\/p>\n

In 2008, she made her debut in season 1 of Gossip Girl<\/em> as Georgina Sparks, a villainous former friend of Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively<\/strong>). Trachtenberg appeared in 28 episodes of the original series and later returned for two episodes of the Max sequel, which debuted in 2021.<\/p>\n

In February 2020, Trachtenberg praised her former costars<\/a> for their post\u2013Gossip Girl<\/em> achievements and said she\u2019d recently seen Leighton Meester<\/strong>, who played Blair Waldorf.<\/p>\n

\u201cLeighton and I actually had dinner not too long ago, and she\u2019s also a mother,\u201d Trachtenberg exclusively told Us<\/em> at the time. \u201cI think it\u2019s just amazing what they\u2019ve all accomplished.\u201d<\/p>\n

She noted that she hadn\u2019t yet seen Penn Badgley<\/strong>\u2019s then-new show You<\/em>, but she\u2019d heard about the memes joking that Georgina could ruin his character, Joe.<\/p>\n

\u201c[It] says that I would be the one to take him down, and I was like, \u2018I don\u2019t know what this means,\u2019\u201d she joked. \u201cAnd then my friends were like, \u2018Well \u2026 \u2019 I go to all of my friends for the content to understand what\u2019s cool with the kids these days.\u201d<\/p>\n
