As you\u2019ve no doubt heard by now, Donald Trump<\/strong> is currently on trial for rape, and so far the civil case has not appeared to be going in his favor<\/a>. Of course, no one knows which way jurors may be leaning\u2014but presumably, taped testimony they heard today did not paint him in a great light, as it featured the ex-president doubling down on his claim that if you\u2019re \u201ca star,\u201d it\u2019s fine to sexually assault people\u2014and then insulting E. Jean Carroll<\/strong>\u2019s attorney\u2019s looks.<\/p>\n Yes, in an astonishing deposition\u2014even for Trump\u2014Carroll\u2019s attorney Roberta Kaplan<\/strong> asked the former president about the infamous Access Hollywood<\/em> tape in which he told Billy Bush<\/strong> in 2005: \u201cWhen you\u2019re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything,\u201d adding, \u201cGrab \u2019em by the pussy. You can do anything.\u201d After watching the clip, Trump told<\/a> Kaplan, \u201cWell, historically, that\u2019s true with stars.\u201d When pressed on whether he stood by those statements\u2014which he chalked up<\/a> to \u201clocker-room banter\u201d in 2016, later suggesting<\/a> the tape wasn\u2019t real\u2014Trump responded: \u201cWell, I guess if you look over the last million years, that\u2019s been largely true\u2014not always true, but largely true, unfortunately or fortunately.\u201d That\u2019s right: When asked about his claim that it was okay to grab someone\u2019s genitals without their permission, Trump said\u2014while in the midst of a deposition about allegedly raping someone\u2014that it was almost 100% true. \u201cUnfortunately or fortunately\u201d!<\/p>\n Asked if he considered himself to be \u201ca star,\u201d i.e., someone to whom the pussy-grabbing rule would apply, Trump answered: \u201cI think so, yeah.\u201d<\/p>\n Incredibly, this wasn\u2019t even the most shocking moment of the deposition. No, that came later when the ex-president told Kaplan he didn\u2018t find her attractive enough to sexually assault.<\/p>\n Per Politico<\/a>:<\/p>\n During the deposition, Kaplan questioned him about several other women who have accused him of sexual assault, women Trump has characterized as not being his \u201ctype.\u201d Growing belligerent, Trump told Kaplan herself that \u201cyou wouldn\u2019t be a choice of mine either, to be honest.\u201d He added: \u201cI wouldn\u2019t in any circumstances have any interest in you.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n Whether or not the jury finds Trump liable for rape, it would be nice if Americans could get together and decide he at least should not be elected president again.<\/p>\n Nothing to see here, just Ron DeSantis\u2019s continued quest to ruin trans people\u2019s lives<\/strong><\/p>\n Hey look, it\u2018s the governor with no soul! Per NBC News<\/a>:<\/p>\n Florida Republicans on Wednesday approved bills to ban diversity programs in colleges and prevent students and teachers from being required to use pronouns that don\u2019t correspond to someone\u2019s biological sex, building on top priorities of Republican governor Ron DeSantis. The two proposals were given final passage by the Republican supermajorities in the House and Senate.
