Jordan<\/strong><\/a> is opening up about making his directorial debut with the upcoming Creed III<\/strong><\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n After starring in the first two Creed<\/em> movies, the 35-year-old actor got behind the camera for the first time to direct the third installment, which will be out in theaters on March 3, 2023.<\/p>\n In a new interview, Michael<\/strong> talked about directing for the first time, revealed who\u2019s given him advice, and also explained why Sylvester Stallone<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s Rocky Balboa isn\u2019t in the movie.<\/p>\n Click inside to read more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve been blessed to work with and learn from incredible directors over the years, like Ryan [Coogler<\/strong><\/a>, who directed Creed<\/em>] and Steven [Caple Jr.<\/strong><\/a>, who directed Creed II<\/em>], who gave me a ton of guidance and mentorship heading into this process,\u201d Michael<\/strong> shared with Total Film<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n He continued, \u201cRyan was one of the first people that really solidified directing as an aspiration for me. I remember him saying on the first Creed<\/em>, \u2018It\u2019s never the right time. You just gotta jump in the deep end and go for it.\u2019 I also received a ton of mentorship from Denzel Washington<\/strong><\/a>\u2026 There\u2019s not a lot of people who have directed themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n Later in the interview, Michael<\/strong> then explained how they decided to do a time jump for Creed III<\/em>, which would show his character Adonis at a different point in his life, which doesn\u2019t include Sylvester<\/strong>\u2018s Rocky.<\/p>\n \u201cWe wouldn\u2019t have Donnie without Rocky, and he will always be a pillar in Donnie\u2019s life, but Creed III<\/em> is really the dawn of a new era for the franchise and the character,\u201d Michael<\/strong> explained. \u201cIt was really important from a storytelling perspective to get to a pivotal point in Donnie\u2019s career a few years down the line where he has really established himself with his professional career and his family.\u201d<\/p>\n If you missed it, Sylvester<\/strong> recently shared his true feelings on not being in Creed III<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
