During the Met Gala 2025<\/a>, the ultra-exclusive, invite-only fundraiser for The Metropolitan Museum of Art\u2019s Costume Institute<\/a>, the world was once again reminded of the indisputable role fashion has played in history.<\/p>\n On Monday, influential guests from all corners of culture made their way across the Met Gala 2025 red carpet<\/a> ever-so-elegantly draped walking over the museum\u2019s storied steps, in celebration of the Costume Institute\u2019s spring exhibition, \u201cSuperfine: Tailoring Black Style.\u201d The exhibit, which includes a collection of garments, accessories, paintings, photographs, decorative art, and more from the 18th century to the modern day, presents visitors to the New York City landmark with a cultural and historical examination of Black style that has dandyism at its epicenter. It opens on Saturday, May 10 and runs through October 26, 2025. It is partially inspired by Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity<\/a>,<\/em> Monica L. Miller<\/strong>\u2019s 2009 book, and she served as guest curator alongside Andrew Bolton,<\/strong> the Costume Institute\u2019s curator in charge.<\/p>\n As always, the Met Gala\u2019s dress code<\/a> was inspired by the spring exhibition. In support of \u201cSuperfine: Tailoring Black Style,\u201d the Met Gala 2025 dress code was Tailored for You, in tribute to the show\u2019s focus on suiting and menswear. According to The Metropolitan Museum of Art\u2019s Costume Institute<\/a>, the directive was designed to \u201cpurposefully designed to provide guidance and invite creative interpretation.\u201d<\/p>\n When the Met Gala 2025 red carpet officially opened on Monday evening, the star-studded host committee was among the first to arrive.
