When The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives<\/em><\/a> dropped last year, we were expecting to roll our eyes at trad wives showing off perfect hair and perfect apple pies. But season 1 blew our minds. Yes, the MomTok women<\/a> were perfectly blow-dried \u2014 a miracle considering how many sticky-fingered toddlers they have among them \u2014 but also strong, and their lives were hardly ideal. Swinging scandals, relationship fails and vicious arguments were just the start. As season 2 kicks off (Hulu, May 15), strained romances, friendship rifts, surprise pregnancies and questionable motives come into play. The ladies sat down with Us Weekly<\/em> to spill the tea \u2014 and wow, there\u2019s a lot of it!<\/p>\n

Taylor<\/h3>\n

\u201cI have a backbone. I don\u2019t like to use it, but when I do, I\u2019m going to use it!\u201d<\/p>\n

Where We Left Off<\/strong> So much drama! On top of the 2022 \u201csoft-swinging\u201d scandal that reverberated throughout her tight-knit friend group and beyond, the divorced Taylor Frankie Paul engaged in a seriously tumultuous on-again, off-again relationship with baby daddy Dakota Mortensen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

New Drama to Tok<\/strong> About In season 2, the 30-year-old mother of three tries to get past those traumatic years and repair MomTok relationships. That includes a reunion with old friend Miranda McWhorter<\/strong>, who was also implicated in the soft-swinging drama, causing a rift in the group.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was nice that she came in because it opened the gates of me being able to speak actual truth about who was involved,\u201d Taylor tells Us<\/em>. \u201cI haven\u2019t told before what we were up to at these parties, and it\u2019s obviously not something I\u2019m proud of, but it\u2019s freeing at the same time.\u201d We won\u2019t divulge it all here, but for starters, she reveals on the show, \u201cWe did have sex in the shower with our husbands all together. We also had sex in the same bed at the same time.\u201d And then there are blindfolds\u2026<\/p>\n

Speaking of awkward: As teased last season, she also faces Jenna, the woman who claimed to have slept with Dakota and now invites Taylor to go through her phone to find answers. \u201cI had no regrets. I\u2019d fixated on it for so long,\u201d Taylor says, adding that revisiting these events has been \u201ctriggering,\u201d but she\u2019s getting better at handling them via therapy.<\/p>\n

While her relationship status with Dakota seems to be locked on \u201cIt\u2019s complicated\u201d (watch for an explosive family barbecue where her relatives take sides), Taylor returns to the Mormon Wives<\/em> universe stronger and ready to take on any frenemy who might mess with her: \u201cI have a backbone,\u201d she tells Us<\/em>. \u201cI don\u2019t like to use it, but when I do, I\u2019m going to use it.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, April 22, Hulu debuted the official trailer for season 2 during Disney Entertainment Television\u2019s \u201cGet Real\u201d unscripted showcase in Beverly Hills, California. From the very beginning, the cast acknowledges just how big #MomTok has [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Miranda<\/h3>\n

\u201cI had too much shame to admit the parts I was involved in\u201d<\/p>\n

Where We Left Off<\/strong> Miranda McWhorter \u2014 Taylor\u2019s ex-BFF \u2014 is new to Secret Lives<\/em> but familiar to MomTok devotees as an OG member.<\/p>\n

New Drama to Tok About<\/strong> The mere presence of the 27-year-old on the show is a drama in itself, especially as the other Mormon Wives are suspicious she\u2019s just after \u201cclout\u201d \u2014 something the whole lineup is obsessed with when anyone tries to infiltrate their inner circle. The hilarious cheeseboard she makes with MomTok spelled out in cheddar etc. doesn\u2019t help. But Miranda fits in way more easily than anticipated, simply by being nice! \u201cI do have a tendency to play middleman,\u201d she tells Us<\/em>. \u201cI just want everybody to get along.\u201d<\/p>\n

The divorced mom of two also says she thinks that \u201ceveryone deserves to have a comeback if they\u2019re willing to take accountability and put in the work.\u201d Miranda knew that owning up to her role in the soft-swinging drama (and getting into the nitty-gritty!) was key to being reaccepted. \u201cThis is the first time I\u2019ve been open about what really happened,\u201d she says. \u201cI still had too much guilt and shame to even admit the parts I was involved in. There is an assumption that it was way crazier than I feel like it was.\u201d<\/p>\n

Where We Left Off<\/strong> In season 1, Mikayla Matthews \u2014 a mom of three with a fourth on the way<\/a> \u2014 usually had her friends\u2019 backs\u2026 when she wasn\u2019t talking behind them.<\/p>\n

New Drama to Tok About<\/strong> One of the most vocal about Whitney Leavitt\u2019<\/strong>s decision to return to Secret Lives<\/em>, Mikayla delivers a killer line at a Halloween fair: \u201cI don\u2019t know why I\u2019m paying for these people to make my skin crawl when Whitney does it for free!\u201d Talking to Us<\/em>, Mikayla, 25, is a little more reflective about Whitney\u2019s ongoing presence, as well as Miranda\u2019s decision to sign on: \u201cWe\u2019re just trying to rebuild our friendships to where we feel comfortable around each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Mikayla\u2019s biggest and most serious talking point is around the devastating sexual abuse she endured in childhood. After four or five years, she finally told her mother. \u201cI feel like she didn\u2019t believe me,\u201d Mikayla recounts, and so she chose \u201cshoving it all down.\u201d Her health (that chronic skin condition)<\/a> suffered as a result. Adds Mikayla, \u201cIt really came to a point that all the trauma and abuse I had suffered was just stacking up inside my body.\u201d<\/p>\n

We meet a soccer coach she\u2019s dating at Jessi Ngatikaura<\/strong>\u2019s Halloween shindig \u2014 although Layla is coy about whether they\u2019re still an item. The mom of two, 24, does acknowledge her romance rules have changed. \u201cI\u2019m dating to potentially find a future stepfather for my children, which has led me to become extremely picky and get out of relationships when I don\u2019t see a future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Behind the scenes, Layla fesses up to some naughtiness: \u201cSometimes we\u2019ll wrap scenes, and the second the producers leave, we\u2019ll get food and debrief,\u201d she tells Us<\/em>. \u201cIf they found out we were talking about things off camera, they would get upset!\u201d<\/p>\n

Hulu has greenlit another batch of episodes, confirming the news in a Thursday, October 3, press release. The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives\u00a0is renewed for 20 new episodes after the pilot became [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cJen has not been a good friend\u201d<\/p>\n

Where We Left Off<\/strong> With her blended family of three kids and older husband (Bret, 46), Demi Engemann, 30, seemed like more of a grown-up than some of the other Mormon Wives, often a steady source of support for her friends.<\/p>\n

For her part, Demi vehemently denies anything inappropriate occurred and says she and Bret are solid. \u201cWe\u2019re good,\u201d she tells Us<\/em>. \u201cI communicate with him, and I\u2019m honest to a fault. At the expense of sounding rude, there wasn\u2019t even a remote attraction to Marciano. It sucks that women can\u2019t be kind and friendly and even playful with men in this world without it being taken as, like, you\u2019re open. I had a rock on my finger the entire time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Demi\u2019s perceived meddling in Jen<\/strong> and Zac Affleck<\/strong>\u2019s relationship also causes a commotion \u2014 and she says it has her questioning why she even appears on the show. \u201cI don\u2019t know how I\u2019m doing reality, honestly!\u201d she tells Us<\/em>. \u201cI hate contention \u2014 it makes me sick. I think we all had our villainous moments, or [were] simply doing things out of being a human and making mistakes.\u201d But, she adds pointedly, \u201cJen has not been a good friend, and I don\u2019t care to get involved in their marriage at all.\u201d<\/p>\n

New Drama to Tok About<\/strong> She\u2019s back, heavily pregnant with baby No. 3 (Billy, now 6 months<\/a>) and eager to have the \u201chard conversations\u201d and make amends.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fallout after season 1 was shocking to me,\u201d Whitney, 32, tells Us<\/em>. \u201cEmotions were heightened. It felt like I was on an island swimming back \u2028to shore to try and build this community again. It\u2019s hard when you\u2019re doing it alone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Whitney uses the B-word \u2014 bullying \u2014 to describe how she was sometimes treated, both on the show and on social media after it aired. \u201cI thought it was very inappropriate how some of the women [jumped] on the bandwagon on social media and were harping on me,\u201d she says. \u201cI am grateful for the separation I made. People probably view it as running away, but I view it as very empowering.\u201d<\/p>\n

With Demi in the hot seat this time, Whitney\u2019s experiences have helped her provide support. \u201cI don\u2019t want anyone else to feel that way. It wasn\u2019t serving me, and it wasn\u2019t the best for me.\u201d Her guard is also up with Miranda: \u201cIn my head, I was like, \u2018You\u2019re coming back for one thing. As a teen on the heels of an abusive relationship, she met someone new, Arik Mack.<\/strong> After becoming pregnant, she lost him in a car crash. (His son was later adopted by her husband, Jacob<\/strong>; the couple added a daughter and are expecting another child.) \u201cIt was very vulnerable to put it out there,\u201d Mayci says, \u201c[but it] helped me get some closure.\u201d<\/p>\n
