Warning: This post contains spoilers from the most recent episode of The Last of Us season two!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Isabela Merced<\/strong><\/a> is speaking out about the fourth episode of The Last of Us. <\/p>\n The 23-year-old actress stars in season two of the HBO adaptation as Dina, who develops a romantic relationship with Bella Ramsey<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s Ellie. <\/p>\n In the latest episode, \u201cDay One,\u201d Ellie and Dina, in Seattle, \u201cfind themselves amid a brutal battle between the zealous Seraphites and a ruthless militia.\u201d<\/p>\n As viewers watch on, Dina reveals to Ellie that she is pregnant, and their relationship takes a new step. <\/p>\n Isabela<\/strong> opened up about the two big moments in new interviews about the episode. <\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt isn\u2019t your average pregnancy experience. I think learning while she\u2019s already on the way plays a big factor [in why she chooses to stay on the journey with Ellie]. But she has her own motivations for it and I don\u2019t think much is going to get in the way,\u201d she shared with TheWrap<\/a><\/em> of Dina\u2019s pregnancy reveal \u2013 she\u2019s having Jesse\u2019s (Young Mazino<\/strong><\/a>) baby. \u201cThat shows how devoted she is to the people she loves. She\u2019s ready, willing and able to do this. She\u2019s devoted, but not like a cult follower, maybe more just a good girlfriend.\u201d<\/p>\n She also touched on Dina\u2019s admittance that maybe Jesse isn\u2019t the one, and accepting her feelings for Ellie. <\/p>\n \u201cI think with acceptance of feelings for Ellie naturally comes her acknowledgement of her relationship with Jesse, and sort of a mourning for what she thought it would be or could be. And an acceptance of like \u2018Damn, I was really just forcing myself into complicit heterosexuality\u2019,\u201d Isabela<\/strong> told the publication. \u201cI think she also did care for Jesse genuinely and that\u2019s confusing for her, because bisexual is not a word that she even knows.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThey don\u2019t know what the LGBTQIA+ community is. They don\u2019t know about Pride. They were in Seattle and in a literal gay community and were like, \u2018Well, they must have been a bunch of optimists.\u2019 So they were just really out of the loop,\u201d she continued. \u201cEvery time she does accept her feelings for Ellie, she feels conflicted when it comes to her experience with Jesse.\u201d<\/p>\n During the episode, Dina and Ellie share a moment of physical and emotional intimacy while revealing their feelings for each other. While speaking to Deadline<\/a><\/em>, Isabela<\/strong> noted that she liked the slow burn of their relationship. <\/p>\n \u201cI appreciated it so much because you just don\u2019t really get that a lot in sapphic content. I think a lot of people over sexualize sapphic content in film \u2014 media, I guess, in general,\u201d she said. \u201cSo I\u2019m really glad that it was slow burn. I\u2019m glad that it was tasteful and potentially, hopefully, maybe, Emmy winning sapphic content. I really think that we lack that\u2026and I think it\u2019s important for young queer people to see that.\u201d<\/p>\n As for how this impacts them moving forward, Isabela<\/strong> said, \u201cI would say they\u2019re on a different level completely, and there\u2019s a new kind of loyalty there. So anything moving forward, the stakes are so much higher, because it\u2019ll hurt that much more to lose the other person. So I think now sh-t has hit the fan. They\u2019re dealing with a whole army. They\u2019re dealing with a baby. It\u2019s gonna get real. It\u2019s gonna intense.
