“I was so young and I just signed on the dotted line.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut as the years have gone by I\u2019ve learned more and more about the industry.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI\u2019ve been collecting \u2014 a bit like [Marvel superhero] Thanos with the stones \u2014 I\u2019ve been collecting parts of my soul back as I\u2019ve gained more creative freedom.”<\/p>\n
\nThe ‘IT Girl’ hitmaker also admitted that she thinks the kind of way in which she became famous has been and gone but she is not entirely sure that music mogul Simon Cowell – who created ‘The X Factor’ and the ‘Got Talent’ franchises, and also headed up Syco Music – is going anywhere. <\/p>\n
\nShe said: “I think it\u2019s the end of that kind of TV show or music label.<\/p>\n
\n“I think it\u2019s the end of that era.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cBut I don\u2019t know if Simon Cowell specifically has ended.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nIt was suggested previously that the lyric \u201csold my soul to a psycho\u201d from her ‘Angel of my Dreams’ track was a dig at Simon but Jade later clarified in an interview that that was not necessarily the case.<\/p>\n
\nShe told Beat magazine: \u201cIt\u2019s not specifically about that.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cBut I wanted the song to be my journey, from entering the music business to now, and what that\u2019s felt like. That\u2019s why the song feels so chaotic.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe opening is like the music to that montage bit on The X Factor after you\u2019ve won, and you\u2019re just catapulted into the industry.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201cI don\u2019t want to sit here and bash the last 13 years of my life. I\u2019m very happy and content. But like with any job, there are highs and lows. That\u2019s just life, and it\u2019s my reality, but it\u2019s about writing it in a way that\u2019s not woe is me.\u201d<\/p>\n
