After 9-1-1<\/em> <\/a>received backlash for killing off Peter Krause<\/strong>\u2018s character, Fire Country<\/em><\/a> is losing two main cast members following a deadly season finale.<\/p>\n

The third season wrapped up on Friday, April 25, with Vince (Billy Burke<\/strong>), Sharon (Diane Farr<\/strong>) and Walter Leone (Jeff Fahey<\/strong>) getting trapped in a building amid a fire. Bode (Max Thieriot<\/strong>) attempted to save them<\/a> but it remained unclear who survived after an explosion caused the roof to collapse.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila<\/strong>) faced off against her stalker while Jake (Jordan Calloway<\/strong>) planned to leave Cal Fire for a new job. There were multiple story lines that left Us<\/em> on the edge of our seat<\/a> but it was the news after the finale that came as a surprise.<\/p>\n

Deadline<\/em><\/a> and TVLine<\/em><\/a> reported after the season 3 finale that Arcila, 35, would be exiting the show after three seasons. She is expected to potentially return as a guest star in the future while Burke, 58, is stepping down \u2014 with Vince seemingly being the casualty in the explosion.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t9-1-1 wasn\u2019t the only show that killed off a major character in 2025 \u2014 and many of those fictional deaths still have fans upset. The ABC drama threw Us for a loop when an April episode ended with Peter Krause\u2018s Bobby being secretly infected with a rare and fatal virus. As viewers coped with the [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While executive producers Joan Rater, Tony Phelan<\/strong> and Tia Napolitano<\/strong> confirmed Arcila\u2019s departure in a postmortem interview with Deadline<\/em>, they remained more tight-lipped about Burke\u2019s future<\/a> with the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt really just comes down to what\u2019s the best creatively. There\u2019s a lot of stuff going on that we as producers juggle, but honestly, we are writers first and foremost and storytellers,\u201d Rater told the outlet in response to a question about budget cuts affecting the season 4 cast. \u201cAnd we struggle with these stories, we wrestle them to the ground, we consider them from six different angles. We don\u2019t do anything lightly, we talk, we talk, we talk. And then we just have to go with our gut about what makes the most compelling story, and we are really trying to write authentic stories that examine what these heroes deal with and go through. So that\u2019s where we\u2019re coming from at all times.\u201d<\/p>\n

Phelan, meanwhile, argued that a cast change would allow for more intrigue.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cAlso, going into Season 4, you don\u2019t want the audience to ever feel complacent, to feel like they know exactly what they\u2019re gonna get, and it\u2019s gonna be the same thing that they\u2019ve gotten,\u201d he added. \u201cYou want to create lean-In moments where the real stakes of what\u2019s involved with what these heroes do is always there. So the audience never knows what\u2019s coming next.\u201d<\/p>\n
