Jeffrey Epstein<\/strong> and Prince Andrew\u2019s<\/strong> accuser, Virginia Giuffre<\/a>,<\/strong> died in April 2025, with her family confirming her death was due to suicide.<\/p>\n

Giuffre, who was just 41 at the time of her death in Neergabby, Australia, had been at the center of accusations against Prince Andrew and the late Epstein<\/a> involving sexual abuse and sex trafficking.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tVirginia Giuffre, the woman who accused Jeffrey Epstein and Prince Andrew of sexual abuse and sex trafficking, has died. She was 41. Giuffre\u2019s family confirmed her death, which occurred on Thursday, April 24, in Neergabby, Australia via a statement made to People. \u201cGiuffre lost her life to suicide, after being a lifelong victim of sexual [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Below, Us Weekly<\/em> details the key events involving Giuffre in the years before her death and everything you need to know.<\/p>\n

2000-2001: Alleged incidents involving Prince Andrew occur<\/b><\/h3>\n

Convicted child sex offenders Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell<\/strong> were seen with Prince Andrew at Donald Trump\u2019s<\/strong> Mar-a-Lago club in Florida in 2000. According to Giuffre, Prince Andrew sexually assaulted her at Epstein\u2019s home in New York the following year. Prince Andrew also sexually assaulted Giuffre at an \u201corgy\u201d that took place on Epstein\u2019s private Caribbean island that same year, she claimed. (Prince Andrew denied sexual assault occurred during these events.) Giuffre was 17 at the time that the events allegedly took place.<\/p>\n

2015: Giuffre\u2019s allegations against Prince Andrew emerge in Epstein court documents<\/b><\/h3>\n

During Epstein\u2019s ongoing legal dramas<\/a> relating to sex trafficking of minors, court documents emerged in Florida in April 2015 that alleged Prince Andrew had sex with Giuffre when she was 17 \u2013 which is under the age of consent in Florida. In response, Buckingham Palace denied the accusations against Prince Andrew at the time.<\/p>\n

2019: Epstein dies in jail; Prince Andrew appears in disastrous BBC interview, then pulls out of public duties<\/b><\/h3>\n

While awaiting trial for sex trafficking charges, Epstein is found dead<\/a> by suicide at New York City\u2019s Metropolitan Correctional Center in August 2019. Three months later, Prince Andrew sat down for an infamous BBC interview<\/a> where he attempted to downplay his association with the late Epstein.<\/p>\n

Despite photo evidence existing of Prince Andrew and Giuffre standing side by side, the Duke of York raised eyebrows when denied ever crossing paths with her during the interview.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have no recollection of ever meeting this lady, none whatsoever,\u201d Andrew said of Giuffre at the time. \u201cIt just never happened.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the broadcast of the interview, Andrew announced that he would be taking a step back from his duties as a member of the British royal family.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has become clear to me over the last few days that the circumstance relating to my former association with Jeffrey Epstein has [become] a major disruption to my family\u2019s work and the valuable work going on in the many organizations and charities that I am proud to support,\u201d he said in a statement. \u201cTherefore, I have asked Her Majesty if I may step back from public duties for the foreseeable future, and she has given her permission.\u201d<\/p>\n

2021-2022: Giuffre launches court case against Prince Andrew<\/b><\/h3>\n

A civil lawsuit was launched in August 2021 against Prince Andrew by Giuffre, who accused him of sexually assaulting her when she was underage.<\/p>\n

The former royal attempted to have the case against him thrown out but a New York judge rejected this attempt.<\/p>\n

Prince Andrew agreed to settle his lawsuit<\/a> in February 2022. According to documents filed and obtained by Us Weekly<\/em>, the case was settled out of court for an undisclosed amount of money. A letter was submitted to the United States District Court in New York City, explaining that the parties plan on filing a stipulation dismissing the case within 30 days.<\/p>\n

\u201cPrince Andrew intends to make a substantial donation to Ms. Giuffre\u2019s charity in support of victims\u2019 rights,\u201d the letter read. \u201cPrince Andrew has never intended to malign Ms. Giuffre\u2019s character, and he accepts that she has suffered both as an established victim of abuse and as a result of unfair public attacks.\u201d<\/p>\n

March 2025: Giuffre\u2019s bus accident and claims of \u2018days to live\u2019<\/b><\/h3>\n

Giuffre posted a disturbing photo via Instagram on March 30, 2025 and explained that she was hit by a school bus traveling at 110 kilometres per hour (approximately 70 miles per hour). As a result, she claimed that doctors have said she only has four days to live.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThis year has been the worst start to a new year, but I won\u2019t bore anyone with the details but I think it important to note that when a school bus driver comes at you<\/a> driving 110km as we were slowing for a turn that no matter what your car is made of it might as well be a tin can,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n
