Jax Taylor split from Brittany Cartwright in 2024<\/p>\n
\nThe 45-year-old reality TV star was diagnosed with the mental health condition in September – but by then, his marriage to Brittany Cartwright had already fallen apart.<\/p>\n
\nHe said on the ‘In the Mind of Jax Taylor’ podcast: “This is the first time in my 45 years of life that I had to ask for help because I just couldn’t do it anymore. I just, I couldn’t bear the weight. And I just – I surrendered. I surrendered.”<\/p>\n
\nJax has been using a mood stabiliser called Lamotrigine, and it’s actually changed his life.<\/p>\n
\nThe former ‘Vanderpump Rules’ star shared: “I’m on it, and I absolutely love it.”<\/p>\n
\nJax now regrets that he didn’t start using Lamotrigine even sooner.<\/p>\n
\nThe reality star – who has Cruz, four, with Brittany – said: “I never miss a day, and it’s literally changed my life. I wish I would’ve took it sooner. Probably would’ve saved my marriage.”<\/p>\n
\nJax – who split from Brittany in 2024 – previously admitted that he’s been battling a cocaine addiction for more than 20 years.<\/p>\n
\nHe said on the ‘Hot Mic’ podcast: “I have substance issues – primarily with cocaine. It\u2019s hard to say out loud. I\u2019ve been dealing with this on and off since I was 23 and now I\u2019m 45.<\/p>\n
\n“There was times where I would stop doing it but then there were times where I\u2019d go heavy on it.<\/p>\n
\n“I just want to let people know this is a really, really tough disease and it\u2019s a really tough sickness.”<\/p>\n
\nBrittany subsequently claimed that she spent years trying to help Jax to “get better”.<\/p>\n
\nThe ‘Valley’ star also admitted that she was “deeply and madly in love” with Jax, despite his troubles.<\/p>\n
\nShe said on the ‘When Reality Hits’ podcast: “No one wants Jax to be better more than I do, let\u2019s be real.<\/p>\n
\n“I tried and tried and tried for years to help this man get better and for us to be a happy family, I was deeply and madly in love with him, there\u2019s no one that can ever deny that.”<\/p>\n
