Tucker Wetmore<\/strong> has an in with some of the biggest names<\/a> in country music \u2014 but that doesn\u2019t mean he can always get them on the phone.<\/p>\n

\u201cThomas Rhett<\/strong><\/a> is another one of those guys that he\u2019s always texting me, \u2018Hey, bud, how you doing?\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh, yeah, I\u2019m doing good.\u2019 And I\u2019ll explain how my day\u2019s going and I\u2019ll be like, \u2018How are you doing?\u2019 Radio silence, two months,\u201d Wetmore, 25, joked to Us Weekly<\/em> during an exclusive interview about his debut album, What Not To<\/em>. \u201cAnd then he\u2019ll text me, \u2018Hey, bud, how you doing?\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018Still good? Still good. How you doing?\u2019 Radio silence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wetmore will be heading out on tour<\/a> with Rhett, 35, this summer, so hopefully he\u2019ll get a bit more face time \u2014 although he understands the demands that come with country superstardom.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s such a good dude, and every time I talk to him, he\u2019s just so loving and caring,\u201d Wetmore told Us<\/em>. \u201cThat\u2019s what I\u2019m most excited about for this tour. Just being able to learn. He does it all the right way. He\u2019s juggling family. And when I say family, I\u2019m talking about lots of kids, an entire family, all of it, and music and his creative mind and his touring life. He juggles it all so well. I aspire to be half the man that he is someday, whether it\u2019s business or family-wise. I\u2019m just excited to learn. Be a sponge.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Wetmore may feel that he has a lot to learn from other stars, he\u2019s already seen enough heartbreak<\/a> to craft the kind of country song that hooks fans from the first note. Before becoming a musician, he was a college football player \u2014 he only turned to music after an injury ended his potential career as an athlete.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought football was my path, if I\u2019m being honest,\u201d he explained to Us<\/em>. \u201cThat\u2019s what I was working toward for years of my life. And I ended up getting injured, moving back home, and then I was just lost. \u2026 I didn\u2019t know what I was doing with my life. I was getting fat. I was drinking a bit and kind of just putting life on the back burner or my future on the back burner.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMax McNown is shining a light on the special meaning behind his brand-new single, \u201cCall Me If You Miss Me.\u201d \u201cIt wasn\u2019t necessarily directly inspired by heartbreak recently,\u201d McNown, 23, exclusively shared with Us Weekly before premiering the song on Friday, March 7. \u201cI liked the layering of a poem being written about how people [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

It was his \u201cpretty cool\u201d mom who inspired him to get back into music as a way of coping with the reality that football wasn\u2019t in his future.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe goes, \u2018Well, when\u2019s the last time you sat in front of your piano or picked up your guitar?\u2019 And I was like, \u2018Honestly, it\u2019s been a couple years, two years,\u2019\u201d Wetmore recalled. \u201cAnd she was like, \u2018Well, go do that. That was your therapy back in the day. Why are you sitting here?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cCasino\u201d singer took her advice and soon wrote his first song (which he describes as \u201cgod-awful\u201d), but he quickly fell into a groove.<\/p>\n

\u201cI loved it. I was hooked,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd I just started writing a bunch by myself and moved to Nashville in 2020.\u201d<\/p>\n
