This past summer, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl<\/strong> <\/a>sent shock waves through the music industry when he announced on Instagram that he\u2019d fathered a child outside of his 21-year marriage to Jordyn Blum<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Fans were stunned to learn that the 56-year-old star \u2014 who\u2019d been widely considered one of the nicest guys in rock & roll \u2014 had cheated on his wife<\/a> and the mother of his three daughters. No one was more surprised by the events preceding Grohl\u2019s social media revelation than Blum herself. A source close to the couple tells Us Weekly<\/em>, \u201cThis was something Jordyn never could have imagined.\u201d<\/p>\n

Seven months later, the pair are still picking up the pieces<\/a>. According to the source, Grohl is \u201cfully\u201d supporting his new daughter and her mom, 38-year-old Florida native Jennifer Young<\/strong>. And he\u2019s doing everything he can to regain the trust of Blum, 48, and their children, Violet, 19, Harper, 16, and Ophelia, 10. \u201cDave is regretful and ashamed of his actions,\u201d says the source. \u201cHe knows he let his family down. He\u2019s really working on his marriage to Jordyn and wants this to be a new chapter for them.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

In his September 2024 Instagram post, Grohl vowed to be \u201ca loving and supportive parent\u201d to his new daughter. The source says he\u2019s making good on his promise. \u201cDave is paying for Jennifer and the baby\u2019s living and medical expenses,\u201d explains the source, \u201cand is helping with anything [they need].\u201d<\/p>\n

An insider says Grohl and Young met in October 2021 while Young was working on a TV show in Washington, D.C., and Grohl was in town promoting his book, The Storyteller: Tales of Life and Music<\/em>. According to the insider, Young\u2019s boss \u2014 a friend of Grohl\u2019s \u2014 invited him to a party with the production crew, and \u201cthat\u2019s when Dave met Jennifer for the first time.\u201d The source says Grohl and Young had been seeing each other on and off for years. \u201cThey had chemistry,\u201d the source reveals, adding that the affair had \u201cbeen going on for a while.\u201d The pair even attended an August 2023 Metallica concert in L.A., as seen in a video circulated on TikTok.<\/p>\n

The source notes their communication is currently limited to coparenting logistics, and they \u201caren\u2019t continuing their relationship now.\u201d Young was photographed walking with her daughter in NYC in February and in L.A. in March. The New York Post<\/em> \u2014 who reported the baby was born on August 1 \u2014 noted she has music-related tattoos, including Paul McCartney lyrics and the Metallica logo.<\/p>\n

Blum is still \u201cprocessing\u201d the betrayal, the source previously told Us<\/em>. \u201cThe hardest part for Jordyn has been seeing Dave have another family. It\u2019s something that will take time.\u201d The source tells Us<\/em> now that despite Blum still being \u201cheartbroken over the situation,\u201d she ultimately wants Grohl \u201cto be a good father.\u201d (In March, the source told Us<\/em>, \u201cDave is helping Jennifer with their new baby and has been supportive. After tying the knot<\/a> at their L.A. home in 2003, Grohl and Blum, a former model and MTV producer, kept their relationship largely out of the public eye. In 2007, Grohl called her his \u201canchor\u201d and he\u2019s revealed that she inspired multiple Foo Fighters songs, including \u201cStatue\u201d and \u201cBurn Away.\u201d While Grohl had admitted that infidelity led to the demise of his first marriage to photographer Jennifer Youngblood<\/strong>, he and Blum seemed to be defying the \u201ccheating rockstar\u201d odds. Two months before the scandal broke, they were seen smiling and laughing together at Wimbledon.<\/p>\n

The source says Grohl and Blum had issues over the years. (Shortly after Grohl\u2019s announcement, reports surfaced claiming his flirty behavior had been causing tension for some time.) But nothing had prepared Blum for Grohl getting another woman pregnant. \u201cDave and Jordyn have had many ups and downs over the years, but this was a huge bomb in their marriage,\u201d the source told Us<\/em> in March. \u201cIt was a huge shock.\u201d The general public was also stunned by the news, with \u201cThere goes our hero\u201d memes going viral and fans calling Grohl out online for not being the dedicated family man he appeared to be. The passive tone of his Instagram announcement \u2014 which read in part: \u201cI have recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage\u201d \u2014 also drew criticism.<\/p>\n

Taking It Slow<\/h3>\n

Blum initially wanted a divorce. (Grohl reportedly retained a divorce lawyer before news of his baby broke but was no longer working with one by November.) \u201cJordyn planned to divorce Dave right after she found out,\u201d said the source in March. \u201cShe needed space to understand what was happening.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ultimately, they want to keep their family intact. They\u2019ve been spotted out twice together in recent months; once in their car near their Encino, California, home in mid-February and again on March 16, grabbing lunch with a friend in Glendale. \u201cJordyn wants to be strong for their kids,\u201d says the source, \u201cand neither of them wants the family broken.\u201d<\/p>\n
