Brian Littrell<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s son Baylee Littrell<\/strong><\/a> is saying goodbye to American Idol<\/em><\/a> following his recent elimination from the reality competition show.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy American Idol journey has come to an end\ud83d\udc99,\u201d Baylee, 22, wrote via Instagram<\/a> on Tuesday, April 22. \u201cThank you so much to all that supported me this season\ud83d\ude4f\ud83c\udffc I love you all \ud83d\ude4c\ud83c\udffc<\/p>\n

Baylee was one of six contestants not selected to proceed to the singing competition\u2019s top 14 round<\/a> on the Monday, April 21 episode. His elimination comes one day after his emotional Easter performance<\/a> that featured a special connection to his family. Baylee sang his dad\u2019s song, \u201cGone Without Goodbye,\u201d from the Backstreet Boy singer\u2019s 2006 solo album, Welcome Home<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt means a great deal to us,\u201d Baylee told host Ryan Seacrest<\/strong> of the meaning behind his selection. \u201cThat song is really dedicated to [the] tragedy [of] 9\/11, you know, all the victims that it affected.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBackstreet Boys star Brian Littrell\u2018s son, Baylee Littrell, shared insight into what inspired his song choice on the special Easter episode of American Idol. After learning he made the top 20 during the Sunday, April 20, broadcast, the 22-year-old performed \u201cGone Without Goodbye\u201d from his dad\u2019s 2006 solo album, Welcome Home. Brian, 50, and his [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Baylee explained that his mother \u201cwas supposed to be on the second flight\u201d that struck the World Trade Center in September 2001.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel incredibly lucky,\u201d he continued. \u201cIt\u2019s an emotional song. I\u2019m just glad I got through it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brian, 50, and his wife, Leighanne Wallace<\/strong>, were shown tearing up as they sat in the audience watching Baylee sing. Judge Carrie Underwood<\/strong> told Baylee the song was \u201cone of your best performances so far,\u201d and that she was hopeful to hear more of his \u201cpowerful tone\u201d in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel you growing and getting more confidence on stage in front of all these people the more we see you, which is really great,\u201d the country singer, 42, said.<\/p>\n

Brian has been by Baylee\u2019s side throughout his American Idol<\/em> journey<\/a>. When Baylee auditioned for the show, he chose to perform an original song. After wowing the judges, Brian popped in to sing with his son<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor your superstar singer dad to come in here, I feel like for anybody else, it would make you look bad. But it didn\u2019t. You were right there with him,\u201d Underwood said after the pair\u2019s surprise duet. \u201cYou didn\u2019t pale, you didn\u2019t shy away. You were like, \u2018This is my moment.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
