The acquisition was announced after several high-profile claims of sexual harassment were levied against Activision Blizzard, and in July 2021, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2021\/7\/22\/22588215\/activision-blizzard-lawsuit-sexual-harassment-discrimination-pay\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) sued Activision Blizzard<\/a>\u00a0for promoting a culture of \u201cconstant sexual harassment.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 -tracking-1 leading-160 dark:text-white selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">On December 8th, the FTC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2022\/12\/8\/23498224\/ftc-microsoft-activision-blizzard-legal-challenge-sues-block\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced it was suing Microsoft to block the deal<\/a>, saying, \u201cwe seek to stop Microsoft from gaining control over a leading independent game studio and using it to harm competition in multiple dynamic and fast-growing gaming markets.\u201d Microsoft\u2019s vice president and chairman Brad Smith responded by saying \u201cWe have been committed since Day One to addressing competition concerns, including by offering earlier this week proposed concessions to the FTC.
