\t\t<\/p>\n Colin Farrell<\/strong><\/a> is opening up about his decision to place his eldest son in a long-term care facility.<\/p>\n If you didn\u2019t know, the 48-year-old actor\u2019s 21-year-old son James<\/strong> was born with Angelman syndrome, which \u201cis a genetic disorder causing delays in development and neurological issues or symptoms. These may include problems with speech, balance and walking,\u201d according to the Mayo Clinic<\/a><\/em>. <\/p>\n In a new interview, Colin<\/strong> shared that he and James<\/strong>\u2018 mother, Kim Bordenave<\/strong><\/a>, recently decided to move their son into a permanent care facility.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span>\u201cIt\u2019s tricky \u2014 some parents will say, \u2018I want to take care of my child myself.\u2019 And I respect that,\u201d Colin<\/strong> told Candis<\/a><\/em> magazine, via The Independent<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cBut my horror would be, what if I have a heart attack tomorrow, and, God forbid, James\u2019 mother, Kim, has a car crash and she\u2019s taken too \u2014 and then James is on his own?\u201d The Penguin<\/em> actor continued. \u201cThen he\u2019s a ward of the state and he goes where? We\u2019d have no say in it.\u201d<\/p>\n Colin<\/strong> went on to say that he and Kim are currently looking for the right facility for James, adding that they want to \u201cfind somewhere we like where he can go now, while we\u2019re still alive and healthy, that we can go and visit, and we can take him out sometimes.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cWe want him to find somewhere where he can have a full and happy life, where he feels connected,\u201d Colin<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n Along with James<\/strong>, Colin<\/strong> is also dad to 15-year-old son Henry<\/strong>, whom he shares with former partner Alicja Bachleda-Cur\u00fas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Last year, Colin<\/strong> publicly opened up about James<\/strong>\u2018 diagnosis for the first time<\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
