Serena Williams has revealed why she held back from securing a Taylor Swift autograph for her daughter during the 2025 Super Bowl<\/p>\n
The 43-year-old tennis champion told Time magazine in a new interview about the incident, saying she swerved the chance to snag the star\u2019s signature after realising the singer was facing a tough evening as her boyfriend\u2019s team began to fall behind.<\/p>\n
Serena said: \u201cI was ready to go in here myself and be like, \u2018Taylor, come get this girl\u2019. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s hard when your team is losing. I totally get it.\u201d<\/p>\n
She added she her husband Alexis Ohanian, 41, had hoped to introduce their six-year-old daughter Olympia to 35-year-old Taylor in her private suite at the Caesar\u2019s Superdome, where the star was watching her boyfriend Travis Kelce, 35, and the Kansas City Chiefs play. <\/p>\n
\nHowever, as the Philadelphia Eagles widened the score gap and dimmed the Chiefs\u2019 chances of a third consecutive championship, Serena said she decided not to disturb Swift.<\/p>\n
\nThe 2025 Super Bowl, held on 9 February, drew widespread attention not only for its on-field drama but also for the presence of high-profile celebrities in the crowd. <\/p>\n
\nSerena also spoke about Taylor being booed by some spectators when she appeared on the jumbotron. \u201cWhy would you boo her?\u201d she asked, adding: \u201cThat\u2019s so mean. That\u2019s just awful.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nSerena also reflected on the strength of her relationship with Alexis, who she married in 2017. <\/p>\n
\nThe couple had their second daughter, Adira, in August 2023 and she said: \u201cMy husband and I, we\u2019re so in a different space. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cWe\u2019re so connected, we\u2019re so in love, we\u2019re just, like, trying to get our daughter Taylor Swift autographs. And nothing else.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShortly after Taylor was booed during the Super Bowl broadcast, Serena posted support for the singer on X, saying on the platform: \u201cI love you @taylorswift13 don\u2019t listen to those booo!!\u201d <\/p>\n
\nSerena also addressed criticism surrounding her surprise cameo in Kendrick Lamar\u2019s halftime performance. <\/p>\n
\nThe 36-year-old rapper performed \u2018Not Like Us\u2019, a diss track widely interpreted as aimed at Drake, 37, who Serena briefly dated in 2011. <\/p>\n
\nHer on-stage \u201ccrip walk\u201d at the time led many to speculate she was shading the Canadian rapper.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAbsolutely not,\u201d Serena said, dismissing the theory. \u201cI would never do that.\u201d<\/p>\n
