Here goes:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Move that beautiful wood bowl to the island, and give it some friends, like this footed bowl<\/a> (in white) or this cake stand<\/a> that can act as a platform for fruit. And a small catchall like this<\/a>. Aim for a grouping that has different sizes, materials, and heights.<\/p>\n

\u2022 For the left corner, how about adding some canisters? Like these<\/a> or these<\/a> (the splurge set)? And a serving board<\/a> that you can lean up against the wall and have handy.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Add a print hung just above them. One idea<\/a>. Another<\/a>. A third<\/a>. This way, with the canisters and the serving board, you\u2019re creating a vignette that draws people\u2019s eyes to (rather than, say, to the more industrial visual of the stove).<\/p>\n

\u2022 Let\u2019s put a sturdy little lamp<\/a> in the corner on the right.<\/p>\n

\u2022 I\u2019d recommend a white dish rack<\/a> so it mostly disappears against the tile wall.<\/p>\n

\u2022 To the right of your stove, where you have salt, etc., I would add a useful object with height\u2014like this crock<\/a> or this one<\/a>\u2014and put your utensils in it. Etsy has a million; here\u2019s one<\/a> with a good shape!<\/p>\n

\u2022 If you\u2019ve been following this newsletter, then you know I\u2019m obsessed with this double oven mitt<\/a>, which you could hang over the oven door handle. Nice range, btw!<\/p>\n

\u2022 Lastly, I think you could use a semi-permanent cutting board<\/a> on your island, so you have a place that anchors where you prep. It can live there\u2014just clean after use!<\/p>\n

Back at Food52<\/h2>\n

Daniel, one of our Shop merchants, also has a side gig as a ceramicist<\/a>. Naturally, he\u2019s got his ear to the ground on the famously cutthroat and secretive world of pottery. Daniel leads our limited-edition ceramics series, All Fired Up, and last week he presented a new collection by SOMBRA<\/a>, an LA-based studio. SOMBRA specializes in vases, jars, and bowls in simple shapes and earthy glazes. I\u2019ve got my eye on the ribbed stoneware vase<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tess is back, zipping around her parents\u2019 Toronto kitchen with a new episode of It\u2019s Fine<\/em><\/a>\u2014she makes a family recipe for pork and chive dumplings<\/a> from Frankie Gaw\u2019s First Generation: Recipes from My Taiwanese-American Home<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n
