Designer Briah Artemis Taubman gave an interview with i-d about the making of Charli XCX’s now infamous “Miss Should Be Headliner” sash dress for Coachella<\/a>. “I made a sash Miss Universe dress and I sent it to Charli’s team. I was like, I can personalize this for your if you want!”<\/p>\n
The construction of the dress was a speedy process. “I made the dress in two days at the beginning of April and then overnighted it to them on Wednesday.” She originally made it in mind thinking it’d be for a New York performance until Charli’s team said otherwise. “Then they were like, well, actually we could do this ‘Should be the headliner.’ I was thinking: I bet this is for Coachella. […] I was like if this is for Coachella I\u2019m gonna lose my absolute shit.<\/b>“<\/p>\n

Taubman’s been pretty happy with the reaction so far. It also helps that she’s not on Twitter. “I personally just love Charli. It was actually on my 2025 manifestation board to work with her. I\u2019ve never made a manifestation board in my life, but I decided this year I would. […] I personally really love when people don\u2019t like my stuff. It\u2019s made me really happy that there\u2019s discourse because I love, like, hate?<\/b> I don\u2019t know. I love when people have conversations about things and that\u2019s all I really care about.”<\/p>\n
And for her two cents, Taubman thinks Charli should’ve headlined Coachella. “I\u2019m obviously biased. I do think she should have been the headliner. But I also don\u2019t think it makes her better or worse than any other artist<\/b>, I just think that the people who are going to Coachella, the majority probably would have aligned more with Charli? But I\u2019m also not really a Green Day fan so I can\u2019t compare the two.” If she could pick the headliners, Taubman would’ve picked Charli, Lady Gaga, and Tyla.<\/p>\n
