{"id":162097,"date":"2025-04-14T18:00:27","date_gmt":"2025-04-14T18:00:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/entertainment.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2025\/04\/14\/the-worlds-busiest-airports-in-2024-ranked-the-points-guy\/"},"modified":"2025-04-14T18:00:27","modified_gmt":"2025-04-14T18:00:27","slug":"the-worlds-busiest-airports-in-2024-ranked-the-points-guy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entertainment.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2025\/04\/14\/the-worlds-busiest-airports-in-2024-ranked-the-points-guy\/","title":{"rendered":"The world&#8217;s busiest airports in 2024, ranked &#8211; The Points Guy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>For 26 out of 27 years, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) has been the world&#8217;s busiest airport.<\/p>\n<p>The Georgia airport, home base and megahub of Delta Air Lines, once again claimed the top spot in Airports Council International&#8217;s annual <a href=\"https:\/\/aci.aero\/2025\/04\/14\/the-busiest-airports-in-the-world-defy-global-uncertainty-and-hold-top-rankings\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">rankings<\/a> of the world&#8217;s busiest airports in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>ATL saw more than 108,000 passengers in 2024 \u2014 a jump of just over 3% from 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Its top ranking came as ACI reported a record-setting number of total airline passengers globally in 2024: close to 5 billion travelers. This number is up 9% over the prior year and up nearly 4% over prepandemic 2019 levels.<\/p>\n<p>That all-time mark wasn&#8217;t a huge surprise in the U.S., where each of the Transportation Security Administration&#8217;s 10 busiest days at airport security checkpoints came in 2024. Air travel to and from the region finally rebounded in a big way following the peak coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Shanghai had been the world&#8217;s eighth-busiest airport in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, a notable airport not listed among the world&#8217;s 10 busiest was Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). ATL<\/p>\n<p>2. DFW<\/p>\n<p>3. DEN<\/p>\n<p>4. ORD<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"looking-ahead\" class=\"jsx-2362441780 anchor\"\/><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"jsx-2362441780\">Looking ahead<\/h2>\n<p>In its report, ACI projected total global passenger boarding could rise nearly 5% more in 2025, which would mean another record-setting year.<\/p>\n<p>However, looming uncertainty over travel demand could throw those projections into a state of flux.<\/p>\n<p>ACI&#8217;s 2024 air travel report also ranked the 10 busiest airports in the world for international passengers.<\/p>\n<p>DXB took the top spot, followed by LHR. Incheon International Airport (ICN) in South Korea, Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) rounded out the top five.<\/p>\n<p>No U.S. airport made the top 10 for international passengers.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"a-milestone-for-atlanta\" class=\"jsx-2362441780 anchor\"\/><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"jsx-2362441780\">A milestone for Atlanta<\/h2>\n<p>ATL&#8217;s world ranking coincides with a milestone.
