Season 3 of The White Lotus<\/em><\/a> may be over, but the speculation about what went down off screen continues \u2014 largely in part to Jason Isaacs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The hit HBO series, which first premiered in 2021, has followed the guests and employees<\/a> at a fictional resort with numerous locations all over the world. The perk of having an anthology series has been the freedom to introduce a new star-studded cast each season.<\/p>\n

During the third installment, The White Lotus<\/em> took Us<\/em> to Thailand<\/a>, with the cast \u2014 including Isaacs, Natasha Rothwell, Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Lalisa Manobal, Michelle Monaghan, Lek Patravadi, Tayme Thapthimthong, Jon Gries<\/strong> and more \u2014 filming for seven months.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was like a cross between summer camp and Lord of the Flies but in a gilded cage,\u201d Isaacs shared in an interview with Vulture<\/em> in March 2025 before admitting he didn\u2019t know whether the interactions affected the final content. \u201cWhen it comes to talking about what happens when you pretend to be another person, I\u2019m slightly at a loss. I\u2019ve done it for decades \u2014 and not just the job, but talking about it \u2014 and I think almost everything I\u2019ve ever said has been completely [false].\u201d<\/p>\n

Isaacs noted that he maintained a close bond<\/a> with his onscreen kids: Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sam Nivola<\/strong> and Sarah Catherine Hook<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cDoes the fact that I spent a lot of time particularly with Patrick, Sarah Catherine, and Sam, and became very close to them, make any difference? I don\u2019t know,\u201d he said, notably not mentioning his onscreen wife, played by Parker Posey<\/strong>, who stayed at a different part of the resort. \u201cI\u2019ve played opposite people I barely knew and we looked like we absolutely loved each other. I\u2019ve played with people I know very well and the relationships don\u2019t work. I can talk about the dynamic but whether it bled into the work or not, I have no idea.\u201d<\/p>\n

Little did Isaacs know that his comments would make headlines. The White Lotus <\/em>viewers started to speculate wildly about who he could be referring to, which led to speculation that season 3 love interests Walton Goggins <\/strong>and Aimee Lou Wood<\/strong><\/a> were at odds.<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cThere were alliances that formed and broke, romances that formed and broke, friendships that formed and broke. It\u2019s a long period of time for people to be away from their family with an open bar and all the wildness being in Thailand allows.\u201d<\/p>\n

While witnessing the alleged tension<\/a>, Isaacs recalled not being exempt, adding, \u201cI can\u2019t pretend I wasn\u2019t involved in some offscreen drama. Dave has seen it before, twice, and so has Yana Grebenyuk Mike [White]<\/strong>. I can\u2019t speak for them, but I imagine they think it feeds into the onscreen drama, and they might well be right. I think the heat contributed to these fissures appearing.\u201d<\/p>\n

He concluded: \u201cI was in some ways used to it, but within a couple of weeks my wife [Emma Hewitt<\/strong>] went, \u2018Some of these people are freaking mad.\u2019 I said, \u2018No, it\u2019s just a bunch of actors away on location, love. You\u2019ve forgotten what it\u2019s like.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

During an interview with Sharp Magazine<\/em> in February 2025, Isaacs hinted that filming The White Lotus<\/em> wasn\u2019t easy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a pressure cooker atmosphere, not just to the story we were telling, but to our own lives,\u201d he said. \u201cPeople are away from home. It\u2019s hot, people are drinking wine at night. There\u2019s an offscreen White Lotus as much as an onscreen White Lotus \u2014 just with slightly fewer body bags \u2014 to navigate and to add to the intensity of the whole experience, which is not something I\u2019m used to. Normally, you go home.\u201d<\/p>\n

Isaacs surprised Us<\/em> with when he hinted at divides between the cast.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cSome people got very close, there were friendships that were made and friendships that were lost. All the things you would imagine with a group of people unanchored from their home lives on the other side of the world, in the intense pressure cooker of the working environment with eye-melting heat and insects and late nights,\u201d he told Vulture<\/em> in March 2025. \u201cThey say in the show, \u2018What happens in Thailand stays in Thailand.\u2019 But there\u2019s an off screen White Lotus as well, with fewer deaths but just as much drama.\u201d<\/p>\n

The outlet offered Isaacs the chance to elaborate, which he laughed off, adding, \u201cAbsolutely not. I became very close to some people and less close to others, but we still all had that experience together and there\u2019s a certain level of discretion required.\u201d<\/p>\n

And like anywhere you go for the summer, there\u2019s friendships, there\u2019s romances, there\u2019s arguments, there\u2019s cliques that form and break and reform and stuff like that,\u201d he shared on SiriusXM\u2019s TODAY Show Radio series The Happy Hour in April 2025. \u201cI\u2019m not stupid.
