Nicky Katt has passed away at the age of 54<\/p>\n
\nThe Hollywood star best known for his roles as Clint Bruno in the 1993 coming-of-age film \u2018Dazed and Confused\u2019, as well as Harry Senate in 2000s Fox drama \u2018Boston Public\u2019, and Razor in 2003\u2019s \u2018School of Rock\u2019, passed away on April 8, 2025, in Burbank, California, his lawyer confirmed. No cause of death was given.<\/p>\n
\nBeau Flynn, the founder of Flynn Picture Company, who worked with Katt on his 1996 flick \u2018Johns\u2019, reacted to the shock news: “Heartbroken to learn about the way too early passing of the seriously talented actor Nicky Katt – God bless you my friend. What a privilege to know you and work with you on my first movie in 1995 – ‘johns’. Rest in peace brother.”<\/p>\n
\nThe former child star landed his first role in a 1980 episode of \u2018Fantasy Island\u2019, followed by the film \u2018Underground Aces\u2019, and episodes of \u2018CHiPs\u2019 and \u2018V\u2019.<\/p>\n
\nHowever, it was his standout role in Richard Linklater\u2019s 1993 cult classic \u2018Dazed and Confused\u2019 that put him on the path to stardom. <\/p>\n
\nAway from film and TV, he voiced Atton Rand in the video game \u2018Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II \u2013 The Sith Lords\u2019.<\/p>\n
\nKatt also starred in Woody Allen\u2019s play \u2018A Second Hand Memory\u2019 at the Off-Broadway Atlantic Theater Company in 2004.<\/p>\n
\nDuring his dazzling career, Katt shared the screen with huge Hollywood stars, including George Clooney, Whoopi Goldberg, Meryl Streep, and many more.<\/p>\n
\nThe \u2018Gremlins\u2019 actor was married to Annie Morse from 1999 until their divorce in 2001.<\/p>\n
\nKatt previously admitted being such a versatile actor was a \u201cdouble-edged\u201d sword.<\/p>\n
\nHe told IGN: \u201cSo I\u2019ve been really lucky\u2026<\/p>\n
\n\u201cBut it\u2019s kind of worked against me because people will see me in stuff and I\u2019ve had people say, \u2018Gee, it\u2019s too bad you got cut out of that movie,\u2019 and I\u2019m like, \u2018No no no, I was that frat guy.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAfter his role as tough man Clint in \u2018Dazed and Confused\u2019, however, he was mostly inundated with offers to play bad guys.<\/p>\n
\nHe added: \u201cSo it\u2019s a double-edged thing, you know \u2013 at a certain point you can almost be too versatile, and that sounds lame, but I\u2019ve always looked up to people like Gary Oldman and Lee Marvin and Warren Oates, these guys who don\u2019t really fit into one thing.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI mean, everyone also says that the bad guys are the most fun, but I\u2019ve definitely gone through streaks where that\u2019s all that people wanted me to play, the bad guy, especially after Dazed And Confused.\u201d<\/p>\n
