Kathy Burke<\/a>\u2019s \u2018Where There\u2019s a Will, There\u2019s a Wake\u2019 podcast. <\/p>\nBob, who was almost 10 years ago diagnosed with severely blocked arteries , which led to a triple heart bypass operation in 2015, said: \u201cI did see the light at the end of the tunnel. I experienced going towards the light and feeling happier than I have ever felt, ever.\u201d<\/p>\n
During his heart surgery procedure, Bob\u2019s heart was stopped for 32 minutes.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cI don\u2019t feel scared about death, I just feel so frustrated and sad to think I won\u2019t see how stories end. My children\u2019s story. My wife\u2019s. The football. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cAll the stories going on in the world that you\u2019re going to miss the end of.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nDoctors discovered 95 per cent of his arteries were blocked, prompting the urgent operation. <\/p>\n
\nBob secretly married his long-time partner Lisa Matthews, 58, just 30 minutes before the surgery. Recalling the events at a press conference the following year, Bob said: \u201cI found out I needed heart surgery on the Thursday, so I made a will on the Friday.<\/p>\n
\n\u201c Found out I couldn\u2019t get married to Lisa because you have to give 21 days\u2019 notice. But my consultant said I was incredibly ill, so the registrar in London \u2013 I don\u2019t live in London \u2013 gave me permission to get married on the Monday.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHe continued: \u201cI got married at half 9 on the Monday then went into hospital for the operation at 10.\u201d Only Lisa and their two sons were present at the intimate ceremony.<\/p>\n
\nIn recent months, Bob has revealed further health struggles. <\/p>\n
\nHe was left unable to walk for part of the latest series of \u2018Gone Fishing\u2019 after contracting shingles. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt was the worst health year of my life to be honest and you know what, it was worse than my heart period,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
\nThe virus left him with significant muscle loss, requiring a wheelchair for parts of the filming.<\/p>\n
\nSpeaking on the show, Bob said: \u201cAt the moment the consultant saying I\u2019m heading for 80 per cent muscle recovery in my leg and she said \u2018you\u2019ll just have to see what that means for you\u2019. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe muscles I\u2019ve lost, I\u2019ve lost\u2026 but other ones can compensate for it, you know what I mean? I can make the other muscles stronger but I have a terrible feeling I\u2019m never going to be able to run again and you know that I used to like to run Paul.\u201d<\/p>\n
