Olivia Munn<\/strong><\/a> is opening up about her experience filming Your Friends & Neighbors<\/em> sex scenes and why she was particularly hesitant to get intimate with costar Jon Hamm<\/strong> on set.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was really nervous about doing any sex scenes because I have a lot of scars,\u201d Munn, 44, told the Los Angeles Times<\/em><\/a> in an interview published on Friday, April 11. \u201cScars that can be seen in clothing and scars that you wouldn\u2019t know unless I was completely nude.\u201d<\/p>\n

Munn was diagnosed with Luminal B breast cancer \u2014 an aggressive form of the disease that can grow quickly \u2014 in April 2023. In the wake of her diagnosis, Munn experienced months of grueling treatments, including a double mastectomy, a lymph node dissection, reconstructive surgery, a nipple delay procedure, an oophorectomy and a partial hysterectomy.<\/p>\n

Despite her reservations, Munn told the outlet that she felt those intimate moments between her and Hamm\u2019s characters were crucial to the series\u2019 story.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe wants something so much more from him than he\u2019s willing to give and their only connection is through sex,\u201d Munn explained. \u201cI really wanted that to be portrayed. I wanted the sex scenes to feel like sex scenes \u2014 I wanted them to feel visceral and intense and not hold back at all.\u201d<\/p>\n

Your Friends & Neighbors<\/em>, which debuted on Apple TV+ on Friday, follows disgraced, recently fired hedge fund manager Andrew Cooper (Hamm) as he resorts to stealing from his affluent neighbors. Munn plays newly single Samantha \u201cSam\u201d Levitt, who is secretly sleeping with Andrew behind his ex-wife Mel Cooper\u2019s (Amanda Peet<\/strong>) back. The show also stars Mark Tallman<\/strong>, Donovan Colan<\/strong>, Hoon Lee<\/strong>, Aimee Carrero<\/strong> and Lena Hall<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Just two years ago, Munn told her team not to put her up for any film or television projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cI called my agents and my manager and I said, \u2018I\u2019m doing being in front of the camera,\u2019\u201d she explained to the outlet. \u201cDon\u2019t put me up for anything.\u201d Ultimately, however, she changed her mind when she was offered the role in part because of the story she would have the opportunity to tell.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOlivia Munn initially chose to keep her breast cancer diagnosis private, but she\u2019s shared plenty of powerful details since coming forward with her journey. \u201cIn February of 2023, in an effort to be proactive about my health, I took a genetic test that checks you for 90 different cancer genes,\u201d Munn wrote via Instagram in [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a carelessness with which they live their life,\u201d Munn said of the characters on the series. \u201cThey feel impervious to the world and it\u2019s so fascinating to watch these people crumble.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added that she sees her character as \u201ca survivor \u2013 she\u2019s going to do anything to maintain her place and take care of her children.\u201d<\/p>\n
