Is Taylor Swift<\/strong> preparing to step into the late Whitney Houston\u2019s lauded, beloved shoes? That\u2019s the question roiling social media today, after news broke that Sam Wrench<\/strong>, the director of massively popular<\/a> concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour<\/em><\/a>, has agreed to direct a remake of The Bodyguard<\/em>, a 33-year-old romantic thriller starring Houston as an endangered pop icon and Kevin Costner<\/strong><\/a> as her titular protector.<\/p>\n

Warner Bros\u2019 original version of the film, which was released in 1992, marked the film debut for Houston, who by then was one of the best-selling musicians of all time. Originally written by screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan<\/strong><\/a> in the 1970s as a vehicle for Diana Ross<\/strong><\/a> and Steve McQueen<\/a>, the Mick Jackson<\/strong>-directed movie spawned one of the best-selling soundtracks ever and won the Grammy for the album of the year.<\/p>\n
